The Senate adopted proposed Senate Resolution No. 144 (SRN 144), requesting the International Criminal Court (ICC) to hold former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte under house arrest on humanitarian grounds, with a vote of 15–3–2.

Senators voting in favor were: Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, Sen. Bato Dela Rosa, Senate Deputy Majority Leader JV Ejercito, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, Sen. Win Gatchalian, Sen. Bong Go, Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson, Sen. Loren Legarda, Senate Deputy Minority Leader Rodante Marcoleta, Sen. Imee Marcos, Sen. Robinhood Padilla, Sen. Erwin Tulfo, Senate Deputy Minority Leader Villanueva, Sen. Mark Villar, and Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri.

Those voting against were Sen. Bam Aquino, Senate Deputy Majority Leader Risa Hontiveros, and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, while Senate President Tito Sotto and Sen. Raffy Tulfo abstained.

The resolution, sponsored by Minority Leader Cayetano and co-sponsored by Majority Leader Zubiri, cites Duterte's advanced age and deteriorating health, urging the ICC to assess whether he can withstand regular detention and, if not, to allow house arrest under conditions that maintain the integrity of the ongoing trial.

Akbayan Rep. Chel Diokno called the Supreme Court's decision on VP Sara Duterte's impeachment a case of accountability and justice lost.

"Sa desisyong ito, talo ang taumbayan. Talo ang pananagutan. Impeachment is about accountability," he said in a statement.

Diokno maintained that the complaints followed the constitutional process, where it was verified and endorsed by at least one-third of the House.

SUPREME COURT BLASTED FOR 'CODDLING' VP SARA, SETTING 'DANGEROUS PRECEDENT'

Akbayan Rep. Perci Cendaña criticized the Supreme Court's decision to declare the impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte as unconstitutional due to the one-year bar rule.

"The Supreme Court has reduced itself to being the Supreme Coddler of Vice President Sara Duterte," he said.
