Austria’s government is moving toward a constitutional ban on “political Islam,” with Chancellor Christian Stocker arguing that religion cannot be used to pursue political goals that challenge the democratic state. Integration Minister Claudia Bauer is now drafting the proposal, which is expected to include broader changes to laws governing religious groups and associations.

Bauer called political Islam the “greatest danger of our time,” saying its organizations seek to place their ideology above the democratic rule of law, reshape society and restrict the freedom of women and girls.

The wider crackdown also includes Austria’s new Islamic headscarf ban for girls under 14 in schools and scrutiny of deradicalization programs. The Justice Ministry has ended cooperation with the Derad deradicalization organization after an assessment identified people associated with it as having links to Muslim Brotherhood ideology.

With its two HQs in London and Istanbul, as well as its state sponsors in Doha, Qatar, the Muslim Brotherhood has been spreading Islamism and violence across the West, Africa, and the Middle East.

The Muslim Brotherhood is banned in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt.

Returning to Britain from a tour of Budapest, Vienna, and Prague highlights just how shabby our country is becoming. A fluorescent-lit cattle shed airport arrivals hall. Sullen bus driver slamming the door in your face. Rubbish and graffiti everywhere. Pot holes. Adults dressed like children. Feral children. Police unshaven. Rabbit hutch housing. Cameras, cameras, cameras. everywhere. "See it! Say it!! Sorted!!!" infantilsation. A general air of defeat in the air. You get used to it to some extent when you are here but - boy - are we slipping fast.
