@OrevaZSN Suggest it to them. Don't confiscate their money just do you can have the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Want the satisfaction that comes from doing something on your own? Plant a garden in your back yard.
Socialists believe we should work for the betterment of society.
They had a real opportunity to do just that during the COVID pandemic. They could have done volunteer work in their communities. Donated blood. Donated lots of $$$ to charities and hospitals.
AFAIK, they did NOTHING
@omgsidewalks One good idea is worth a billion dollars or more.
How much was the origimal idea for the Apple II computer worth?
The Macintosh?
The iPhone?
In contrast, name ONE original idea you've had that people would be willing to pay for.
@smashsharp@OrevaZSN "Prefer misery"???
In my own car, I can set the climate control the way I want. I can choose the music I want. And most importantly, I can choose the passengers I want. I have all that today.
Try coming up with some social innovation that doesn't have the word "sacrifice" in it.
@OrevaZSN I use AI every day. And subscription fees are reasonable.
Where I live, electricity has been deregulated. I can choose to switch to a renewable provider if I want.
But the renewables provider's electric rates are 40% higher.
Don't make me poorer to "save the planet."
@omgsidewalks Who INVENTED the iPhone?
Steve Jobs had several hundred patents to his name.
How many patents do YOU have?
What have you invented that I use in my home daily?
What have your fellow socialists invented?
Have you created anything innovative?
@pensandpoison English teachers have a real blind spot: They don't realize that students can learn reading from non-fiction as well as fiction.
Maybe they should get rid of "The Mayor of Casterbridge" and replace it with a non-fiction science book.
@pensandpoison I dissent.
Reading should be rewarding. "No pain, no gain" is a good slogan for tooth extractions but not for reading.
Are we sure a child would never read a book on dinosaurs on his own? Or space travel?... 1/
@Provokethoughtz People "vote with their feet."
The United States has been the Number One destination for immigrants seeking a better life. So many, in fact, that it had to restrict the number. And nearly all stay.
That alone tells you the U.S. is a nice place to be.
Simple rule:... 1/
@thoughtographic The term "imperialism" is useless today anyway. Because there are no empires (in the dictionary-definition sense) anymore. I think the last real empire was the British Empire, but I could be wrong.
The U.S. has no colonial possessions, EXCEPT maybe the Virgin Islands.
@omgsidewalks In our system of justice, you can't take ANYTHING away from someone without due process and the right to a fair trial.
To declare an entire group of people automatically subject to confiscation would constitute a bill of attainder, which is unconstitutional... 1/
