@vossbrink The first season sometimes borders on unsellable. I didn’t even watch it the first time I saw the show. For this: It’s a storyline I’m guessing the writer wouldn’t do today, and it’s presented in Screwball Comedy framing, but it’s bad.

Whenever there wasn’t so much of the actual story to put even Spielberg to sleep and he got to build some set pieces and have some fun, the movie clipped by nicely and had some good energy. It’s not a movie I loved, but hey, that was unlikely to be in the cards.

@kukkurovaca Gundam vs Mechagodzilla is the single, only mashup reference that actually feels organic and clever. I wonder how someone slipped it past Cline.

@NeoWestchester Yeah, and it being a legitimate horror movie and less of a straight geek properly changes up the vibe of it. It feels less like a hollow reference and more like a game level that’s intended to be difficult.
