Imagine buying 7 Bitcoin for under $800. I was going through some of my records and found a purchase from March 2013.
This was done on Coinbase with zero KYC. Those were some of my most memorable moments in crypto.
I put my Uber earnings to work. I was living on the floor of a bachelor house trying to save every cent to buy Bitcoin. I show this not to brag but to encourage people to step out of their comfort zone and buy $BTC.
@myworldview77 Zero shootings, zero trans agenda garbage, zero political worship, zero military worship, very little police presence… the list goes on . There’s no way I’d want to raise a child in the US. You couldn’t pay me 😆
Our daughter just got her first citizenship.
MANY more to come.
I’m teaching her that citizenship’s are just a game and to collect as many as possible.
Bitcoin hit $79K and everyone's panicking.
Not me. Tightest Bollinger Bands in 2.5 years, Bitcoin is 60% of the whole market, and nobody's called me about XRP yet.
Meanwhile the Pentagon wants every base ready to run 90 days off-grid. And Bitcoin's still holding $80K 👇
60.14% of the $2.67T crypto market is Bitcoin, about $1.61T.
Ether is 10.59%, roughly $283B, so BTC is worth about 5.7 times ETH. Every other coin and token combined adds up to 29.27%, less than half of Bitcoin's share.
Your bank can't tell if it's you or an AI logging in. JPMorgan, BofA and Wells Fargo are scrambling.
Same week, governments switched off their own websites. And the US now pays $2.9 BILLION a day just in interest.
This week was a dress rehearsal 👇
Please do yourself a favor and unfollow anyone who keeps saying this war is over or will end soon.
This will last decades. I’ve been saying this since 2 weeks into the conflict.
@annvandersteel I work in private aviation. We are swamped with Private jets leaving the region past 48hrs. Not just wealthy expats and diplomats, royals leaving undercover. This started on Monday night for us, meaning they knew way before the announcements today 👁️
Something odd is going on under this market.
BlackRock just had its biggest Bitcoin day in a YEAR: $665M.
Stablecoins: down $2.6B in a week. Crypto's own money is leaving.
Americans owe brokers $1.48 TRILLION. Nearly 5x the dot-com peak.
No leverage. DCA on the red days. 👇
"THERE'S NOTHING RISKIER THAN CRYPTO."
You've heard it from your bank, your adviser and the evening news.
So let's look at the safe option.
2013. Cyprus. The banks shut for 10 days. When they reopen, savers at Bank of Cyprus lose 47.5% of everything over €100,000.
2015. Greece. The banks shut for three weeks. You can take out €60 a day.
2019. Lebanon. Banks lock people out of their own dollar savings. The lira loses about 90% of its value.
2022. Canada orders banks to freeze accounts linked to a trucker protest. No court order needed. About 210 accounts, roughly C$7.8 million.
2023. Silicon Valley Bank. $42 billion tries to leave in one day. By the next morning the bank is gone, and around 90% of its deposits were over the insured limit.
Every one of these has the same thing in common.
Someone else held the money. So someone else decided when you could have it.
Now look at self custody.
Your Bitcoin sits at an address that only your private key can spend from. That key comes from 12 or 24 words you wrote down yourself. No bank has a copy. No company has a copy. No government has a copy.
There's no branch to close. No daily limit. No account manager for a freeze order to land on. The network doesn't do weekends or bank holidays.
Send it across the street or across the world at 3am on a Sunday. Nobody approves it. Nobody can reverse it.
Satoshi wrote it plainly in 2009: "The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust."
The cypherpunk answer was to stop needing the trust.
Yes, crypto is volatile. Yes, people lose money. FTX lost $8 billion of customer funds. Look at how: people handed their coins to a company to hold. Same mistake as Cyprus, new logo.
Leave it on an exchange and you've just opened another bank account.
There are two kinds of risk. The price moving. And someone else deciding whether you can have your money.
Hold your own keys and only the first one is left. Your bank account has both.
