Unfortunate condescension and appeasement by a former foreign secretary. Indians do get nuance - including people who loved the movie in question, like myself.
In fact Dhurandhar was extremely empathetic and multifaceted - it just was not sympathetic towards Pindi, as it should not have been: Jihadist terrorism against Bharat being Pakistan’s consistent policy is fact not opinion.
Anyway, one does not expect better elites when for centuries we had lost memories of statecraft in large parts of the civilisation. This too will change and is already significantly improving.
A war film that asks "us" to consider the cost of war. What an idiotic take!
The aggressor bears the cost of war; the non-aggressor bears the cost of ending atrocity. Blurring this difference in the name of vague humanism erases who acted, who is guilty, and who is responsible. If considering “the cost of war” means the victim must hesitate to defend itself just because violence feels uncomfortable to kitty party intellectuals, then that idea ultimately asks victims to accept massacre and submit to genocide.
In 1971, the Pakistan Army committed a documented genocide: nearly 3 million civilians killed, 200,000–400,000 women raped, 10 million refugees, and the systematic execution of intellectuals. To pause and “weigh the cost of war” if such crimes erupt in our neighbourhood again is, in effect, to argue for inaction, to watch, rationalise, and thereby enable mass murder. That position is not moral caution or enlightened pacifism; it is the logic of surrender, advanced only by those who are either morally indifferent or too cowardly to accept the responsibility of stopping evil.
Actually, it’s a terrible report
Shame on @nytimes and its biased reporters Saif Hasnat, Mujib Mashal, Suhasini Raj for their disgraceful coverage of the brutal lynching of Hindu man Dipu Chandra Das in Islamic Bangladesh
Dipu Das’s lynching is framed as part of a “wider pattern of religious intolerance in South Asia”
Even when the report is about lynching of a Hindu in Bangladesh, the report has carefully inserted “Hindu vigilantes targeting Muslims in India”
What the report omits? That just last week, an Indian court convicted 10 Muslims for brutal lynching of their neighbour Ram Gopal Mishra
At the same time, the men who lynched Dipu Das are not profiled as ‘Muslim vigilantes’ but simply as “co-workers”
You can’t hate this lot enough
The spam bot accounts on X have just been replaced with accounts that spew AI generated garbage replies under every tweet to farm engagement. It's annoying as fuck.
@AamirKhan78 Free from any biases you say - while posting a biased take on what's happening in the park. Did you go up to them and ask them what they're doing before recording this and posting online?
You wouldn't do the same for someone doing an Easter weekend picnic. Look within first.
As an Indian, this does not feel satisfying at all. Our legend Sunil Chhetri deserved far more respect. Making him wear an active player’s jersey, that too a messy one with “Maha deva Messi” written on it, is honestly disappointing. When celebrities with zero football knowledge and zero achievements get treated with class, but the greatest Indian footballer is handled like this, it hurts. Sunil Chhetri is a legacy. Whoever planned this had no sense of football, no sense of respect, and no understanding of what he means to Indian sports.
How can a commentator use words like “Azad Kashmir” on air in an @ICC World Cup?
This is plain unacceptable. @BCCI@BCCIWomen need to take note immediately.
@RevSportzGlobal@TrishaGhosal this is plain wrong.
Regardless of the result on Sunday, for India this Asia Cup has answered some important doubts, but raised even more. With an eye set on the world cup next year, SKY and his team need to settle the squad before it's too late.

9. Fielding - perhaps it's the ring of fire at Dubai but given the standard India has set over the last few years, the display in their last 2 outings has left everyone scratching their heads. Need to fix this before it costs more damage.
