I found the most underrated library in NYC.
Poets House, a 70,000-volume poetry library that's open to the public.
- floor-to-ceiling windows
- river views overlooking the Hudson
- a room with old, original typewriters
- a listening center with classic recordings
- couches, writing desks, and reading nooks
It was founded in 1985 by Stanley Kunitz, a two-time US Poet Laureate. It now holds virtually every poetry book published in the US.
Unlike most libraries, it actually invites you to stay. Also free wifi!

LGBTQ+ activist and icon Marsha P. Johnson died 34 years ago today.
Her body was discovered floating in the Hudson River, with her exact cause of death remaining unsolved.
