My article, “A New Chapter in Kenya–UK Science Diplomacy,” highlights the need to move beyond knowledge exchange towards co-creation, technology transfer and research commercialisation.
Through stronger Kenya–UK partnerships in AI, biotechnology, health, agriculture and clean energy, we can turn research into innovation, innovation into enterprise, and enterprise into jobs and prosperity. Under the leadership of President @WilliamsRuto As Kenya looks beyond Vision 2030, science, technology and innovation must drive our transformation into a competitive, resilient, knowledge-based economy. @koske_felix@pthigo@SingoeiAKorir@MMakoloo@nacosti@nrfkenya@KENIAupdates@MusaliaMudavadi@OfficePCS_KE@FCDOGovUK@wellcometrust@ScienceRI_Kenya@ISC@KenyaMissionUK@Afroscientist@ucl

Today, I had the honour of attending Mashujaa Day in Eldoret, Kenya, where I delivered remarks paying tribute to the heroes who fought for freedom and those who made the ultimate sacrifices to safeguard their nation. I honour their courage and legacy!
Kenya’s history of courage and sacrifice resonates deeply with Ethiopia’s own story of Adwa, where Ethiopians from every corner of the country united to defend their homeland. These shared histories remind us that freedom was never given; it was won through courage, unity, and sacrifice.
As our histories are intertwined, so too must our futures be. Through the spirit of Medemer, Ethiopia and Kenya must continue building on our existing cooperation in clean energy, connectivity, telecommunications, and trade to create greater opportunities and shared prosperity for our people.
To all those honoured today, I salute you. Happy Mashujaa Day!
The National Youth Service, led by the Commandant General, James K. Tembur, MBS, HSC, joined His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto, PhD, CGH, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, alongside thousands of Kenyans, in marking this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret City, Uasin Gishu County.
Co-hosted by Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet counties, the national event paid tribute to the gallant heroes and heroines whose courage, sacrifice and patriotism paved way for Kenya’s independence and continue to inspire generations in the pursuit of national progress.
As we honour the sacrifices and enduring legacy of our heroes and heroines, let us renew our commitment to unity, integrity and collective responsibility in building a peaceful, secure and prosperous Kenya.
Happy Mashujaa Day

Zelensky addressed US lawmakers and expressed dissatisfaction that, for the third time in a short period, Ukraine "received no warning from the American early warning system" about the launch of ballistic missiles.
Following this, Zelensky expressed bewilderment at the fact that the United States refused to provide additional compensation to Ukraine for fulfilling Trump's request:
We offered that we could halt strikes on Russian oil refineries for 30 days, and in return, we expected that America would help us protect our airspace for those same 30 days... [...] but we received no response regarding their willingness to help us in this matter.
🇷🇺 How could Russia-NATO relations in the Arctic develop? Three possible scenarios
Russia could face three scenarios in the Arctic over the coming years, ranging from limited cooperation with the West to a dangerous military confrontation, Russian Academy of Sciences researcher Sergey Grinyaev said.
🟧 Positive scenario: Russia and Western countries partially normalize relations, coordinate military activities, and maintain rescue cooperation, allowing the Northern Sea Route to develop despite political restrictions.
🟧 Neutral scenario: NATO continues military exercises in the Arctic while the US expands its icebreaker fleet with Finland and Canada. Russia strengthens the protection of its shipping routes, with trade continuing under sanctions and other restrictions. Grinyaev considers this the most realistic scenario.
🟧 Negative scenario: Russia-NATO tensions spill over into the Arctic, where an incident involving military aircraft or warships could trigger unpredictable escalation and attempts to restrict shipping through the North Atlantic, Bering Strait, and Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor.
According to Grinyaev, the future of Arctic shipping will depend on whether Russia and NATO can manage their competition without allowing military incidents to escalate into broader confrontations.
Kenya plans to build an Sh80 billion nuclear research reactor at Konza Technopolis to produce cancer-related medical isotopes locally and reduce reliance on imports.
The project will be implemented through a public-private partnership (PPP).
The history of a nation is shaped by the hands of men and women who believe in its promise.
Today, we pay tribute to our compatriots who made great sacrifices to liberate our country from colonial rule.
We also celebrate all those committed to ensuring our country is secure, healthy and progressive, and a place we are all proud to call home.
Let us draw inspiration from our heroes and heroines and serve our country with greater dedication, patriotism and selflessness.
Happy Mashujaa Day!
Rybar, the Russian blogger with close ties to the Russian intelligence services and the Russian military, has produced a remarkably detailed map.
It seems the Russians have a very clear idea of where unrest is likely to break out in Europe!
They are watching us. They are analysing us. And they clearly know exactly where they might strike. #russia #EU

I’m profoundly grateful and deeply humbled to be 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝟱 𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗲 by 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵, the internationally renowned UK- and US-based magazine dedicated to pathology and laboratory medicine.
This first-ever Hall of Fame is an enduring tribute to those whose contributions have shaped pathology and laboratory medicine over many years, recognising individuals with five or more Power List honours, as well as departed colleagues whose loss continues to be deeply felt across our professional pathology and medical laboratory community.
It is an extraordinary honour to stand alongside such giants of pathology, particularly two whose work touched me personally: Prof Christopher Fletcher (d. 2024) of the USA, a legendary soft tissue pathologist whose books and papers I first studied as a young trainee more than 20 years ago; and Prof Richard Scolyer (d. 2026) of Australia, a pioneering melanoma pathologist with whom I interacted closely online during his courageous battle with brain cancer. Finding myself in the same inaugural Hall of Fame as these two extraordinary figures is deeply moving.
What makes this Hall of Fame recognition even more surreal is discovering that I’m the only inductee from Africa 🌍 and from a low- or middle-income country among the founding 15. Proudly Kenyan! 🇰🇪
I could hardly have imagined being among such an illustrious group of just 15 honourees, even after six appearances on The Pathologist Power List (2019–2021 and 2024–2026). For a Kenyan pathologist who has spent over two decades leading by example and advocating for stronger pathology and laboratory medicine services in Africa, this is a humbling reminder that the pursuit of cutting-edge excellence knows no borders.
I’m truly grateful to all my mentors, colleagues, partners, team members, family and community, including those from my humble roots in the Kibra slums, who have walked this journey with me. More recently, I’m especially grateful to my remarkable DKL team @DKLDrKalebiLabs , who have joined me in building a homegrown, innovative and disruptive greenfield laboratory venture, advancing pathology and laboratory medicine in Africa despite considerable resource constraints.
I truly love pathology, and it remains a privilege and a blessing to contribute to patient care through scientific evidence and accurate, timely diagnoses that provide answers to patients, families and healthcare professionals, guide treatment, restore hope and save lives. Alhamdulillah! 🤲🏽
As I exit the annual Power List nominations and take my place in the Hall of Fame, my prayer is that this recognition inspires more young African pathologists and laboratory professionals to rise to even greater heights of global recognition through the excellence and impact of their work.
Heartfelt congratulations to all 15 inaugural inductees, and profound gratitude to The Pathologist @pathologistmag for this extraordinary honour.

🇷🇺 Citadel: Russia's AI-guided anti-aircraft guns shown in action for the first time
Pantsir systems and mobile fire groups get most of the credit for downing Ukrainian drones, but a Vesti report now shows another system at work: the Citadel anti-aircraft artillery complex, already on combat duty guarding key infrastructure.
Several remotely controlled gun modules are linked to one command post, with AI recognizing targets and calculating each shot. Its programmable shrapnel shells hit with a few rounds instead of long bursts, and its crew claims a 99% success rate, over 50 targets downed, including a Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile.
🇷🇺💣 Russian strikes on data centers disrupt NATO intelligence support for Ukraine – expert
The destroyed Datagroup data center processed NATO intelligence, including data from spy drones operating near Russia’s borders over the Black Sea and Baltic regions, military expert Yan Gagin tells Sputnik.
🔶 Ukrainian forces used this intelligence to strike targets across Crimea, Sevastopol, Novorossiysk, and Russia’s Black Sea coast – often hitting civilian sites – as well as targets deep inside Russia and along the western border
🔶 The Datagroup data center was storing this intelligence and running the AI systems used to analyze it
🔶 The Russian strike on Datagroup’s data center could seriously disrupt Ukrainian military targeting capabilities
Kenyan pathologist Dr Ahmed Kalebi has been inducted into the inaugural Hall of Fame of The Pathologist, becoming the only African and the only representative from a low- or middle-income country among 15 figures recognised for their contributions to pathology and laboratory medicine.
