She resigned on April 23–26, 2007 (accounts vary slightly on the exact public announcement date), after admitting she had falsified her academic credentials. She had worked at MIT’s admissions office since 1979 (starting in an entry-level role), became interim dean in 1997, and was appointed full dean of admissions in 1998.

Prison is NOT excessive for this type of behavior. Maybe a short sentence for fist offense but it should be on the table. The problem is that prisons should require the inmates work to survive. The work provided by the inmates should fully sustain themselves and any personnel assigned to the prison.
