🇬🇧 #UK: Britain’s domestic intelligence agency, MI5, has proven to be above the law as they will not face contempt of court proceedings despite admitting it provided evidence based on lies to three different courts.

The scandal centres on a violent neo-Nazi informant, known as Agent X, who allegedly abused his girlfriend and attacked her with a machete. MI5 knowingly gave false evidence while attempting to protect the informant’s identity and prevent the BBC from exposing his connection to the security service.

An independent investigation uncovered serious systemic failures and dishonesty by senior MI5 officers.

On November 3rd, three senior judges decided not to pursue contempt proceedings. They concluded that the “complexity of the case” meant it wasn’t in the public interest to prosecute.

This is yet another example of Britain descending rapidly into an authoritarian country.
