I've done plumbing, restaurant cooking, and HVAC and now work in finance.

The world as we know it wouldn't exist without blue collar jobs and they do deserve more respect. I'll also agree LARPing and flex culture is cringe and that society often makes fun of or portrays as stupid blue collar workers.

I do however think it's true many (maybe even most) of the people who work blue collar jobs do it because they can't get or hold down a white collar job. Sometimes it's their fault, sometimes it's life circumstances. This perception I think is common, true or not. Stereotypes exist for a reason there is always at least a kernel of truth.

Women care more about status, competence, and resources than men do in dating and that's totally fine. Men care more about looks and youth than women do. These are general population trends not rules for every individual.

What are the best and most reliable ways (though still flawed) to signal competence, resources, and status? Money, being the guy in charge of someone else, and social status signaling through education.

These are genuine bars that filter out MORE OF BUT NOT ALL OF the people less capable, compatent, and possesing social status. As you climb the ladder.

I think low ladder white collar people are seen differently due to the perception "at least they're not a plumber" even though the plumber likely makes more money than them. The money isn't the whole picture imo. It's not being "relegated to having to work with your hands like those morons fixing my HVAC."

@justalexoki A frustratingly large amount of people don't agree that weight loss is just calories in vs calories out. They actually think the foods matter and there is some magic diet that will save them.

People can like what they like and want what they want. I get it, I own impractical expensive things too just because I like them. I just think for most people though the ring money should go towards starting your life and family together.

In my personal experience, yes an anecdotal commentary so sue me, women who obsess over the wedding or ring or whatever are shallow. I think it's dick measuring in female form.
