रामनगर, पश्चिम चंपारण की यह तस्वीर विकास के उन दावों पर बड़ा सवाल खड़ा करती है जो हर चुनाव में किए जाते हैं।

बरसात शुरू होते ही अनुसूचित जाति एवं जनजाति बस्तियों के लोग सीवर और नालों के गंदे पानी के बीच रहने को मजबूर हो जाते हैं। घरों के आसपास जलभराव, दुर्गंध, मच्छरों का प्रकोप और बीमारियों का खतरा लगातार बढ़ता जा रहा है। आखिर गरीबों की जिंदगी की कीमत कब समझी जाएगी?

विकास के नाम पर करोड़ों रुपये खर्च किए जाते हैं, लेकिन पहली ही बारिश में नाले जवाब दे देते हैं। ऐसा लगता है कि जनता की समस्याओं के समाधान से ज्यादा कुछ लोगों की रुचि ठेकेदारों के साथ मिलकर सरकारी धन की बर्बादी में है। यदि निर्माण कार्य गुणवत्तापूर्ण होता, तो आज दलित और आदिवासी परिवारों को गंदे पानी में जीवन नहीं बिताना पड़ता।

हम जिला प्रशासन, जनप्रतिनिधियों और संबंधित विभागों से मांग करते हैं कि प्रभावित क्षेत्रों का तत्काल निरीक्षण किया जाए, दोषी अधिकारियों और ठेकेदारों पर कार्रवाई हो तथा स्थायी जल निकासी व्यवस्था सुनिश्चित की जाए।

गरीबों को नारकीय जीवन नहीं, सम्मानजनक जीवन चाहिए।
