The case, filed by V Arun Kumar, brings attention to Chennai’s exorbitant parking fees, which often exceed ₹200 during long film shows. Under Section 39(1)(g) of the Consumer Protection Act, such unfair practices can be penalised. Advocates say this ruling could set an important precedent and push for fairer, capped parking charges across the city.
