A very close friend of mine lost her job, so I started sending her ₦20,000 monthly. I also shared data with her, I even added her to my Glo data plan and free call package.

This went on for about six months. At the same time, I was actively looking out for job openings for her.

Then I started noticing something was off from her WhatsApp status. Unlike before, she began posting fine corporate pictures almost every day. I would comment and tease her about it, and she’d say she was just going around submitting her CVs.

One day, she probably forgot to hide me from viewing her status. She posted a picture from an office with the caption: “Best three months of my life. Best job ever.”

I calmly messaged her, “Babes, you have a job now?” She didn’t reply until about four hours later.
When she finally responded, she said yes, but that she was still trying to be sure the job was a good one.

I felt played.

I didn’t reply to her again, I just moved on.
