In the world of onchain music, we find ourselves confronted with an unexpected challenge with musical diversity. While @soundxyz_ hosts a grand 3.6k tracks, a number that, at first glance, seems promising for how early we are. Yet, as I delve deeper for @invinmusic's Onchain Curator Szn 1, a notable genre bias comes into focus.

Much like the heyday of SoundCloud, the dominant genres in onchain music lean toward hip-hop and electronic. One could speculate that this trend finds its roots in the wave of bedroom producers that gained momentum around 2012. While undoubtedly popular, these genres have somewhat overshadowed the plethora of musical styles that exist.

Nevertheless, within this seemingly narrow landscape, we find remarkable talents like bloody white (@bloodywhxte) and Oxis (@iamoxis). Yet, it's evident that we have only scratched the surface of what the onchain music universe can offer. With a relatively modest number of tracks available, the present moment presents a golden opportunity for expansion and discovery.

As we peer into the future of popular music, intriguing shifts are on the horizon. Notably, we have witnessed the resurgence of genres like pop-punk, long thought to have seen its prime. Artists are breathing new life into this genre, signaling the cyclical nature of musical trends. Moreover, the future of popular music appears to be moving towards a more global stage. The ease of sharing and discovering music online has given rise to a fusion of sounds from around the world.

In light of these developments, I challenge everyone in the onchain music space to take action and onboard artists from all backgrounds. Reach out to your friends, local bands, and even the talented musicians performing at your neighborhood farmers market. Let's expand the musical landscape and together, we can lead the charge for the next wave of popular music across all genres.
