In 2014, the Cincinnati Bengals cut Devon Still.

Then they immediately signed him to the practice squad, for one reason only. So his health insurance wouldn't stop.

His four year old daughter had just been given a 50/50 chance to live.

June 2, 2014. Doctors walk into a waiting room and tell Devon Still that Leah, his four year old, has stage four neuroblastoma. A pediatric cancer. Fifty fifty odds.

Still was a defensive tackle fighting for a roster spot. He missed most of training camp to be at the hospital, and when cuts came, he didn't make the 53 man roster.

For most players that's the end. No team, no salary, and critically, no insurance.

The Bengals signed him to the practice squad anyway. Not because they needed him. Because it kept his family covered, and gave him the freedom to fly to Philadelphia to be with his daughter whenever he needed.

Then head coach Marvin Lewis and the organization did something else.

They started selling Devon Still's number 75 jersey, and announced they would donate ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the proceeds to pediatric cancer research at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

A backup defensive tackle's jersey.

It became the best selling jersey in the NFL. Fans of other teams bought it. Rival organizations ordered them in bulk. Opposing players wore them.

The Bengals eventually handed Cincinnati Children's a check for $1.3 million.

Leah, meanwhile, was fighting. Chemotherapy. Radiation. Surgery to remove a tumor. Stem cell transplants. Her father documented all of it publicly, because he decided that if his family had to go through it, other families shouldn't have to feel alone in it.

Then on March 25, 2015, Devon Still posted this:

"June 2, 2014 and March 25, 2015 are days I will remember for the rest of my life."

296 days after the diagnosis, Leah Still was in remission.

There was one more scare, a serious complication from the transplant that summer. She beat that too. By December 2015, her scans showed no evidence of disease at all.

She got a Wheaties box. She and her dad won the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYs, and she recorded a video message thanking everyone who helped her beat up cancer, because she was too sick to attend in person.

The Bengals eventually released Devon Still for real in September 2015.

And they made sure his medical insurance would stay active for five more years anyway, whether or not another team ever signed him.

Leah is a teenager now. Healthy. She and her dad have written children's books for kids going through what she went through.

Her advice to those kids: "You're not fighting this alone."

An NFL team spent a roster spot on a dad instead of a player.

You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now. Yesterday I went shopping at one such store and the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone.

I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already filled my trolly, emptied my trolly and scanned the items, refilled my trolly, and so I just skipped the exit line and left.

I heard her saying "Umm - Excuse me “ as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store.

You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be.

• I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you.

• If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine.

• Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities.

She’s looking straight at the cameras and saying what too many white liberal women won’t admit out loud: the same ideologies they champion in the name of “tolerance” and “compassion” are the ones that erase women’s freedom the moment they gain enough power.
Burqas.
Child brides.
Girls sold into marriage at nine years old.
Women treated as property instead of image-bearers of God.
That isn’t diversity.
That’s regression.
And it’s not “Islamophobia” to notice the pattern. It’s pattern recognition. Every culture that treats women as second-class citizens eventually exports that treatment if we refuse to defend the hard-won ground our grandmothers and mothers stood on.
As a Christian woman, I believe every female is made in the image of God — not the property of a system, a family, or a ideology. That belief doesn’t disappear the moment someone crosses a border. It gets sharper.
We can love people without surrendering the very freedoms that let women speak, drive, learn, and protect their daughters. Compassion that refuses to see danger isn’t compassion. It’s abandonment.
This isn’t about hating anyone.
It’s about refusing to hate our own daughters enough to hand them a future where their voices, their bodies, and their futures are no longer their own.
Wake up is not hate speech.
It’s the minimum required of people who still care.

Buc-ee’s just sued a tiny corner store in Beavercreek, Ohio over a cartoon beaver and its name.

Beaver’s Mini Mart has been sitting in that neighborhood for over two decades. Buc-ee’s opened its first Ohio store this spring.

A multi-billion-dollar Texas chain that builds 74,000 sq ft cathedrals to gas and beef jerky is now trying to crush a mom-and-pop carryout because the city is literally named Beavercreek and the store used… a beaver.

This isn’t trademark protection. This is corporate bullying dressed up as brand defense. They’re burning every ounce of goodwill they spent years manufacturing with clean bathrooms and branded merch.

People who once drove hours for the “Buc-ee’s experience” are now watching a giant pick on the local corner store that was there first.

You don’t get to roll into some place, plant your flag, then demand the locals stop using the animal their town is named after.

I actually liked the business model and things I have heard about Buc-we’d until I saw this. Don’t try to be the beaver that thinks it owns every other beaver.
