Today, a July 4th Parade in Highland Park, IL was the victim of a mass shooting, killing 6 and injuring more than 30. We hold them in our hearts.

No state, no building, no gathering is immune to this singularly American epidemic. We need action now!

At a time when we can see the rights of some of us being constrained in this country we love, we must continue to work towards a future that embraces the fact that we were all created equal

Today, the Supreme Court ignored 50 years of precedent, ruling that women have no control over the decisions made regarding their bodies. Make no mistake, this is not the end of abortion, it is the end of safe abortions.

Women’s rights will always be human rights.

The United States was founded on a dream of freedom for all of its people. However, slavery continued well after the Revolutionary War was won.

Juneteenth celebrates emancipation, when that dream of freedom for all of the people in the United States began to be put into practice

On this Memorial Day, and everyday, we honor the sacrifice of the fallen and that of their loved ones. It’s important that we do not forget their sacrifice, nor the importance of reflection and meaning of this day.

We are saddened to hear of yet another mass shooting, this time at Robb Elementary School in Texas, that took the lives of 14 students & 1 teacher.

Thoughts and prayers are not, and have never been, enough. No one is safe from gun violence in this country and we need action NOW

This is another sad example of two scourges upon our society: gun violence and white supremacy. We cannot stop fighting to ensure that no one loses their lives to either ever again. (2/2)
