This is one of the things I find hilarious about the Quran.

Surah 8:41 came down after Badr. They had already fought, won and were arguing over the spoils. Then the revelation arrived with distribution rules.

God gave Moses a complete and comprehensive legal system at Sinai 50 days after they left Egypt. Criminal law, property rights, inheritance procedure. All for scenarios that had not happened yet. The one reactive episode in Torah is the daughters of Zelophehad, which expanded inheritance rights downward to people who had none. The Torah never created a personal exemption for Moses.

The Quran does the opposite. The revelation tracks desire. Muhammad wants to marry his adopted son’s divorced wife: the verse arrives and collapses the Arab prohibition on such marriages. He needs to manage spoils from a battle just fought: God speaks. He needs cover for a slave relationship: God speaks. He needs guests to stop lingering at his dinner table: God speaks.

Aisha watched this from inside the household and said to Muhammed “Your Lord does not hesitate to meet your desires.” That is in the Sahih Bukhari. His most beloved wife (child bride) made the same structural observation that it seemed like revelation always came to conveniently bail him out or meet his wild desires.

Islam insists Allah is eternal, complete, and has boundless knowledge. No new information reaches Him. If that is true, He knew before creation that Badr was coming and that the spoils question would follow. Why did He not send Gabriel with a comprehensive legal framework as He did with Moses?

The first prophet gets a God who legislates for a future his people haven’t lived yet. The so called final prophet gets a God who speaks when it is convenient for one man. Very fishy.

That's because Islamic education is based on recitation. Children are literally sat in front of a Quran for hours of a day and do nothing but recite it. In some countries, the children might face physical punishment if they fail to do so properly.

Now here's the caveat. Recitation takes a more central role than comprehension and theology because Muslims are taught that every word in the Quran is to be read literally. This is different than Christianity and Judaism where religious scripture might be metaphorical or be using allegory or story telling to indirectly give a message. Which is why Muslims will use people like Abraham and David having multiple wives as a justification for polygamy whereas Christians and Jews are able to conclude by literary analysis that the Bible is telling us that both Abraham and David sinned and their households suffered because of their polygamist lifestyles.

It is a subtle difference but it is the difference between being able to recite text and actually being meaningfully literate.

Galatians 4:4 looks like a transition verse.

“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son.”

If you read it fast, it sounds like a timestamp. But if read slowly, it is the most staggering sentence in the Bible.

‘Fullness of time’. Paul isn't saying God picked a convenient moment. He is saying God declared a moment complete. “The preparation is finished and everything I have been building across centuries is exactly where I need it to be”. God looked at human history and said: now.

Which forces the question. Why then? Why not a thousand years earlier, when Moses was fresh? Why not a thousand years later? What was so perfect about the first century?

I started looking into it and I have not recovered.

God needed a people with the theology. He spent 2000 years forming Israel; the covenant, the sacrificial system, the prophets, Isaiah 53 written seven centuries before Calvary, the framework of a coming Messiah who would bear the sin of the world. The Jews were shaped by wilderness, exile, and divine discipline, until the theological infrastructure for substitutionary atonement was fully in place.

But theology alone could not travel. God needed a language. Not a tribal dialect, but a universal tongue. So five hundred years before the Gospel, He let the Greek philosophers begin.

Heraclitus sat in Ephesus and concluded the universe was governed by an invisible rational principle. He called it the Logos.

The Stoics built on it. Philo of Alexandria stood at the intersection of Greek thought and Hebrew scripture and said the Logos was the mind of God in creation. For five hundred years, philosophy built a conceptual category it could not fill.

Then God sent a conqueror with no interest in theology. Alexander the Great wanted glory and empire. God let him want it. In satisfying his ego across three continents, Alexander Hellenized the ancient world and forged Koine Greek, the common tongue of the docks, markets, soldiers, and slaves. A language stripped of complexity, simple enough for anyone, universal enough for everyone.
The Hebrew scriptures were translated into it. The Septuagint was born. God used a pagan conqueror’s ambition to translate His own Word.

Then Rome came and paved the road. The Pax Romana. Piracy cleared. Stone highways stretching from Spain to Syria. A framework for movement the ancient world had never seen.

None of them knew they were collaborating.

Heraclitus thought he was doing philosophy. Alexander thought he was building a monument to himself. Rome thought it was building an empire for Rome. Not one of them understood they were stagehands. God was with Heraclitus in his pondering, with Alexander in his conquest, with Roman engineers laying stone, quietly requisitioning their work for a purpose none of them could see.

And then, when the covenant people were in place, the language primed, the roads built, and the category ready, when everything He had been quietly assembling was finally set, God stepped into the room they had unknowingly prepared.

John picked up his pen and wrote: “In the beginning was the Logos.”

Every Greek philosopher in the Mediterranean felt the ground shift. “And the Logos became flesh.” The category they spent five centuries constructing was not a principle. It was a Person.

The ‘fullness of time is not a timestamp’. It is God’s signature on a completed work. And the humbling thing is that this work was not built by saints. It was built by conquerors, philosophers, and emperors who thought they were writing their own story. God let them think that. And used every word. If this is not amazing then I don’t know what is.

People are clueless about our history because it’s been revised to paint Christianity in the worst possible light, when it was specifically the Church that preserved all the great ancient texts that illuminate the histories for us.

Why did the Dark Age happen? Not because of Christianity, but because of Islam. Aside from Constantinople, all the centers of Christian learning in the East were conquered by the Caliphate. And in particular, Egypt was the greatest loss, for two reasons: 1) the catechetical school at Alexandria was a brilliant light of Christendom for the 6 centuries prior to Islamic conquest, and 2) most importantly, the production and importation of paper (made from papyrus) to Europe ceased overnight, and Europe had to resort to enormously expensive parchment for its writing mode — and thus reading and writing became relegated to the wealthy nobility and to the clergy. No one else could afford the material necessary.

Couple that with the next thousand+ years of Islamic raiders plundering the coasts of southern Europe for Christian slaves, leading to most unfortified coastal areas to be abandoned for centuries, and you have a recipe for Christian Europe to be forced to draw in upon itself. This coincided with the so-called Islamic Golden Age, which occurred specifically because Islam violently conquered Christian lands and stole their knowledge for themselves.

The Christian West during this period nearly collapsed altogether, but it was their unifying Christian faith that helped them band together to defeat the pagan Germans in Saxony and Bavaria, the pagan Vikings raiding and conquering the British coasts, and Islamic rule in Iberia, southern France, Sicily, and southern Italy.

People like to treat “science” and “learning” as these linear progressions, but in reality the studies of the sciences, and in particular philosophy, had really begun to decline during the period leading up to the fall of Rome in 476. This era was marked by increasing decadence and a lack of moral and social cohesion in the empire, and as society decayed so too did the quality of its academic institutions and scholastic fervor. Some people try to blame this decay on Christianity, but in reality Christianity was a response to — not the cause of — this societal decay.

This same pattern is playing out today. The moral and societal decay of the modern secular West is leading the younger generations to reject modernity and embrace faith, and in particular the more traditional and liturgical faiths are surging with young adult converts.

History doesn’t repeat itself but it does rhyme.

- Made false prophecies about Christ's return and the temple in Missouri
- Contradicted the Bible repeatedly
- Claimed a new revelation that changed constantly
- Secret polygamy and polyandry
- Taught God the Father was once a man, and that men can become gods
- Produced the Book of Mormon with major historical/anachronistic problems
- Created a works-based system contrary to the Gospel of grace

Joseph Smith was not a prophet of God. He was a false teacher who preached "another gospel" (Gal. 1:8-9).

Want waarom zouden we op 4-mei stilstaan bij Joodse kinderen die in veewagons werden gepropt, om vervolgens vergast en verbrand te worden in faciliteiten die specifiek daarvoor waren gebouwd, terwijl er nu Palestijnse kinderen dood onder het puin in Gaza liggen?

Simpel antwoord: omdat de ene een industriële genocide was van een volk dat nergens een oorlog voerde, en de andere het tragische, maar voorspelbare gevolg is van een oorlog die Hamas zelf is begonnen door op 7-oktober 2023 een barbaars bloedbad aan te richten, honderden gijzelaars mee naar Gaza te nemen om zich daar vervolgens achter hun eigen burgers te verschuilen.

Maar ja, waarom zouden je dat lastige onderscheid maken als je deze twee totaal verschillende situaties ook lekker moreel gelijk kan trekken? 'Alle kinderen zijn kinderen', toch Luuk? Terwijl je het systematisch vermoorden van Joden tijdens de Holocaust en het doelbewuste gebruik van de eigen kinderen als menselijk schild in 2023-2026 in één adem noemt.

Da's echt briljant historisch analfabetisme. De Holocaust was geen 'oorlog'. Het Joodse volk werd door het Duitse Nazi-regime systematisch uitgeroeid. Palestijnse kinderen die nu doodgaan? Verschrikkelijk. Maar de verantwoordelijkheid ligt voor 90% bij de psychopathische islamitische beweging, Hamas, die hen als PR-materiaal gebruikt en elke kans op vrede en welvaart heeft afgewezen sinds 1948. Hamas had kunnen kiezen voor scholen in plaats van tunnels, voor beschaving in plaats van barbarij. Voor vreedzame co-existentie in plaats van Jihad. Voor leven in plaats van martelaarschap.

Maar dat past natuurlijk niet in jouw wereldbeeld. Dan zou je namelijk moeten toegeven dat één kant probeert te overleven na een pogrom en de andere kant een ideologie koestert die Joden (en bij voorkeur alle Joden) dood wenst. Dus nee, Luuk, we herdenken de Holocaust op 4 mei niet omdat we Joodse doden belangrijker vinden. We herdenken omdat het een unieke industriële uitroeiing was, een uitroeiing die diezelfde Palestijnen anno nu enthousiast zouden toejuichen overigens.

'Nie wieder' vertaalt zich naar 'Never again' en betekent niet 'nooit meer Joden vermoorden'. Het betekent: nooit meer dat soort kwaad tolereren, ook niet als het zich nu verkleedt als 'verzet' en zich tooit met een Palestijnse sjaal. Ga maar lekker verder met je valse equivalenties. De treinen richting de vernietigingskampen rijden niet meer, maar de trein van historische ontkenning en morele verdwazing, die rijdt nog volop, en jij zit comfortabel in de eerste klasse, bij het raam. Lul.

Talk about taking a Bible verse completely out of context and missing the entire backstory.

The Midianites had just weaponized their women to seduce Israel into idolatry, Baal worship and sexual immorality at Peor.

That wicked scheme of theirs led to a plague that killed 24000 Israelites.

This wasnt random neighbors minding their own business. It was a repeated….deliberate spiritual and moral attack on Israel.

Gods command is judgment on a nation whose cup of iniquity was full. Kill the boys to end that hostile Midianite culture as a fighting force along with the non virgin women who actively participated in the seduction.

But the virgin girls who had zero part in the treachery were spared. Those innocent girls were brought into Israelite society and protected under Israelite law.

They were given a full month to mourn then marriage or household integration with clear rules. Rape was not allowed (Deu 21:10-14).

In the brutal ancient world with zero social safety net this was actual mercy for the innocent in the middle of judgment on the guilty.

Very few videos disturb me. The last one, was a video from the Russo-Ukraine war. A combatant encounters a female soldier who is pregnant. While surrendering she desperately pleads not to be shot.

In this video, we see an infant. The infant is uttering an English language rendition of words that have been found in some variation, universal to the human species. We know that every race, every culture on earth, has words for “mama” and “papa”. In some places it’s “Mumma” and “Tata”, but they’re similar enough to be intelligible.

There is no explanation for why, other than that it is hard coded into millions of years of evolution, and as of the last 160,000 years that anatomically modern homo-sapiens have existed, is uttered by babies.

In the year 2026, I am faced with the horror of an infant, who by his nature is seeking his biological mother, an adult human female, uttering the words “mama”, to a gay couple who utilized a surrogate mother. All I can think of is “you will live to see man made horrors beyond comprehension”.

The result? Magyar won. And the moment he set foot in power, the “traitor” revealed his true face. He declared that the border “isn’t strong enough,” rejected 90% of Ursula von der Leyen’s demands, prioritized the rights of ethnic Hungarians, and in practice, stuck to the same sovereigntist line that so irritates the EU.

The European Union, Soros, Obama, and company bit the bait, shelled out the cash, and now stare in stunned disbelief as the “change” they celebrated so much is exactly the same old Orbán—just with a different name. Masterstroke. 5D chess at its finest. And the best part: all of it legal, all of it clean, and all of it right under their noses.
