How I became a Sanatani

I was a typical product of the leftist-Marxist education system, completely brainwashed. I thought the Ramayana and Mahabharata were just stories—mere entertainment, not our history. I believed Sanskrit was a dead language. When my mother advised me to learn it, I shrugged it off like it was not going to get me anywhere. I even bought into that absurd narrative of Ravana being “good guy” because he didn’t touch Ma Sita. And Shri Ram? I thought his Agni Pariksha was cruel and wrong.

I used to think, "Wow, the Mughals were great!" That's the history I was fed. I genuinely believed Brahmins were the oppressors. Gandhi and Ashoka? They were the epitome of greatness because they talked about Ahimsa. “Turn the other cheek”—what a wonderful philosophy, right? I swallowed that narrative whole—the lie that India won its freedom purely through non-violence. That Hindus were weak, perpetual losers, and that’s why we kept losing to invaders.

The British? I believed they “gifted” us railways and English.
And our own rituals? Complete nonsense, I thought. The priests don’t even know what they’re doing—why should I? I never went to temples. I thought they were not clean, and I couldn’t understand why people would stand in such long lines to see a stone. I thought they were insane. And the RSS? I used to think they were way too extreme.

I believed all of that nonsense. I lived in that bubble of ignorance.

Then Sadhguru happened.

Because of Him, my entire worldview flipped. Now, I’m learning Sanskrit, the deva-bhasha with Sanskrit Bharati and @ciftweets. I’m reading the Ramayana and Mahabharata (by @6amiji ), not as stories, but as the historical and spiritual legacies of my ancestors. I’m diving deep into the Arthashastra, discovering India’s ancient brilliance in politics and statecraft. I’m learning the Bhagavad Gita with the correct pronunciation. Studying Sankhya Karika. I’m doing the Annaprashana and Vidyarambham Sanskaras for my daughters, ensuring they are raised in the right tradition. My daughter is learning Kalaripayattu. When my grandmother passed away, I performed her final rites the right way. I do my Sadhana every day.

I’ve begun reading books written by RSS thinkers—ideas I once dismissed. Reading books by Indian Historians and Thinkers like Savarkar, Dharmpal, Sita Ram Goel, Dattopant Thengadi (thanks to @brhat_in), @IndicMeenakshi @jsaideepak @singhsahana @sanjeevsanyal @vikramsampath @RajivMessage and many more.
I’m now going on temple tours, taking my daughters with me, and immersing them in Dharma so they grow up with a deep connection to their roots.

And here's the most amazing part: I’m now pursuing an MTech in Yoga Technology from IIT Hyderabad—a path I couldn’t have imagined before.

And it’s all because of Sadhguru.

They say it’s easy to convert a Hindu to another religion. But converting a Hindu to a true Sanatani? That’s the real challenge. And Sadhguru did that for me.

For showing me this path, for guiding me through every step of this transformation, I owe everything to Him. He awakened a deep, sacred connection to my roots. He helped me reclaim the identity, the heritage, and the pride that I had lost. Now, I walk this path every day with awareness, strength, and gratitude.

Still a long way to go, but Thank you, Sadhguru, for being the light that led me out of the darkness and for guiding me to live as a true Sanatani.
