Morning sunshines! ☀️ Woke up to see my feed full of negativity/ slating other SLTs. Can we start a thread where we all say something great about another therapist/ service/company? I’m here to learn from and support other SLTs. Cheering for each other is so important. LET’S GO🎉
Ten years ago today I graduated. A whole decade of being SJB SLT. A pipe dream thought up while living in Melbourne. Proud of what I’ve achieved so far. Fiercely supportive of our profession and expecting the same from those around me. The best is yet to come.
Shared to CAMHS SLTs @RCSLTLearn “Focus on my similarities, what makes me human, not just my difference, disorder, deficit-We must get the support right, think about sensory needs & communication preferences, create that bridge ➡️relational support, connection.” @AQuinnUnbroken
We take great pride in our collaboration with the @LittleTroopers_ Therapy Programme, an initiative dedicated to enhancing the mental health and overall well-being of children whose parents serve in the British Armed Forces. 🇬🇧
📢📢SLTs and clinicians working with people who have #dysphagia! Please make sure you read our new position paper on Thickened Fluids and additional resources for supporting people with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties: https://t.co/OTY7664Sxh
Thanks to @thetimes for bringing attention to the 1.9 million children currently struggling with talking and understanding words. More must be done to ensure these children receive the support they need. Read their article featuring @Jane_Harris77 here👉 https://t.co/lz5ROS2CgF
Helllllp! Can anyone recommend training I can go on re: GLP? Want to learn more about the process and also how to give safe helpful advice as I’m often wondering if the children I meet are learning language in this way. TIA! #gestalt#language#training
@Kristina_SLT@RCSLTLearn@RCSLT@UCL_MScSLS@GivingVoiceUK Please make sure they know their ‘job’ is to learn. Reassure them to death. Encourage them to think out loud and ask questions. Give clear, specific feedback and be kind about it. Honest always, but please be kind to them. Have fun! Students are great and you’ll learn from them🥰
Discharging my caseload who have allowed me the opportunity to practice what I’ve been learning this year. Beyond grateful to them for ‘letting me in’. Saying goodbye as a therapist feels bittersweet to me. I’m so proud, and will miss them enormously!
How else would you phrase trial and error? I’m trying ‘trial and reflect’ So that young people and parents don’t think they’ve done something wrong- some therapy ideas work, others don’t, it’s not an error it’s just less helpful than we’d like #trial#reflect#childled
