CitiShop? Just received email below today. Looks like a remake of Honey and CLOs combined. I'm shaking my head.. Not many merchants want to enable banks as a coupon channel. Google does this in Product Listing Ads (PLAs) allowing coupons and discounts with measurement integrated into All ad types in Google Analytics (GA). Its like the banks don't care what the competing schemes are.. they want to build what they are ABLE to build, not what the merchants want. Banks are constrained in letting bank data play OUTSIDE of banking. Thus banks want to expand the "bank" experience to include top of funnel marketing. Only specialty retailers and restaurants will participate.. which limits user interest .. creating a coupon clipper demographic.. that works for incremental sales.. but fails in loyalty. Consumers don't go to online banking to buy socks or dog food.. our look for deals.. they check their balance, pay their bills/Zelle and leave 5-7 times a week (retail) and 3 times per month (credit card). Google and FB touch customers 20-40x a day. They capture intent.. they don't make the consumer search for deals. It just makes no sense. Oh and there is no way I'm giving my bank data on all the sites I visit in a plug in.. none of their business.
