I also want to say this as someone who a) went to NYU and b) studied a semester in Paris: sure there were plenty of wacky radical ideas I was exposed to - socialist, republican, fucking nihilist - all of them in a huge ideological BUFFET at my disposal. BECAUSE THATS WHAT COLLEGE IS. It’s not indoctrination. It’s access to theories and people and stories that allow you to become your own person. For most young adults, it’s what helps you cultivate empathy, curiosity, humility, and healthy skepticism. It’s the OPPOSITE of indoctrination.
