That last minute goal has probably saved Neilson's job at least for now. On a separate note, plastic pitches should be banned in the SPL. If teams can't afford a proper/hybrid pitch & groundstaff to maintain it then they shouldn't be in the top flight.

@AlanMeikle Mackay-Steven clearly nicked the ball of the United player's foot and the player fell over as he was already off balance. I refereed youth football for years and would have been embarrassed to award a penalty in similar circumstances in a schools match.

@Mariojay94 The penalty, soft as it was a coming together of players but could have been given. Putting your arm into the neck of your opponent is different. As a qualified referee I can see why both decisions were made though understand anger from the Spanish bench as it wasn't looked at.

What is the point of VAR? NO check on a blatant foul in the build up to the England equaliser. NO wonder the Spanish management and bench were incensed.

@TEnglishSport Very charitable of you to give them 15 minutes. I reckon it was nearer 5 of decent rugby and 10 of fewer mistakes than the rest of the match. It would be doing school teams a disservice calling it schoolboy errors. Time for a major shake up on and off the pitch.

Ashfield MP Lee Anderson is sadly symptomatic of what the Conservative Party has become after too many years in power. Out of touch, unsympathetic and unable to understand that the cost of living crisis is something their policies have contributed to.
