Olympic sports like wrestling are not just programs, they are pipelines of opportunity for first generation college students, scholarships, discipline, and purpose. Lives are being changed through these programs, and now they are being cut.

But here’s what’s getting lost in the conversation: revenue is not profit. Most athletic departments are not making money, they are losing it. Schools are spending millions chasing football and basketball success in an arms race they can’t sustain. Even major programs are deep in the hole doing it.

That’s the “fool’s gold.”

CBU was never built to win that race, and trying to chase it comes at the expense of something far more valuable.

CBU’s mission, The Great Commission, was never about maximizing dollars, it was about impact. This program has produced testimonies, transformation, and young men encountering Christ through the opportunity to wrestle.

Cutting wrestling is not just a financial decision, it is a values decision. Protect Olympic sports. Protect opportunity. Honor the mission.
