The Vineyard is a shared epic of fantasy and science fiction.
Its people were taught that no one is coming. The one who taught them that wanted the throne and the suffering that came with it.
I post the lore, the hidden rules of that world, and the chapters as they open.
What kind of story do you reach for when hope has to be smuggled back in?
@StoneMountain64 Awesome to see real improvements and changes beyond a new map and POIs. I really hope there are more quality of life movements like this update, my favorite being blueprints can be made with the bench upgrade and the right resources.
@ArcRaidersNow funny idea, I claim it btw, go in with the camera and RP "Speranza Geographic" and take photos of ARC absolutely bodying raiders. do voice overs and post clips XD
Asked Grok and ChatGPT to make an interpretation of Lehi's vision since it was brought up in #LDSGeneralConference . I can't decide which I like better. 1st is Grok 2nd ChatGPT.

Walking through City Creek Mall to go to one more panel today for @fanxsaltlake and got a really pretty picture. Been really enjoying it this year. :-).
@LargeInStature_ MMOs are SUPER hard to make, even when a developer has billions to burn. That space has taken major hits in the last year or so unfortunately and even Riot is struggling to make their's as good as possible. Not saying they CAN'T make it happen, but it's gotta be dang good.
During my address this week at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., I shared that living together in peace requires goodwill among those who differ.
Knowing that we are all children of God gives us a divine vision of the worth of all others.
I pray to our Heavenly Father for His blessings upon us that we will all seek to be peacemakers.
Worldbuilding sickness is not a disease you catch. It is the depth you choose.
Three sliders tell you when the world is ready for the story in front of you:
Scale — is it large enough for this story to move?
Perception — is what can be seen or hinted at enough?
Function — does the world hold under the pressure the plot will apply?
When the honest answer is yes on all three, start writing. Anything beyond that line is optional polish, not a prerequisite.
The results must be worth the sickness.
Every story already has a hidden physics. The writers who last are the ones who decide what that physics is instead of hoping the reader will not notice.
There are no bad ideas—just unfinished ones.
What is the hidden system in the story you are writing right now? Name the source and the cost.
The pulse of a thriller and the spark of a romance are powered by the same thing as a spell.
Not fireworks. A framework.
A magic system is any rule-set that makes the implausible feel grounded and consistent. In fantasy and science fiction the system is visible. In every other genre it is simply unnamed.
If a mystery, romance, or historical novel feels thin, the problem is often that the hidden system was never designed. Name it and the story tightens.
A short exercise.
Choose a non-speculative novel you admire—or your own work in progress.
Identify the extraordinary elements.
Map them as a system: source, cost, rules.
Then add one twist that only that system could produce.
Pride and Prejudice’s social machinery is a complete system. Sherlock Holmes’s method is another. Once the map exists, the next scene becomes easier to write because you know what the world will and will not allow.
