This week, with the support of KOICA @IOMSolomons received NFIs for pre-positioning, to support ongoing response to the impacts of TC Maila affecting Choiseul and Western Provinces, and ensuring that immediate needs of affected populations are met 🇸🇧🇺🇳

Last week I visited Gizo in Solomon Islands to see first hand the impact of Cat 5 tropical cyclone Maila in Western and Choiseul provinces. I met with govt representatives, other humanitarian partners on the ground and reassured the SI government 🇸🇧 of @UNmigration’s support

Cyclone Maila has left communities in Solomon Islands struggling with damaged infrastructure and limited access to basic services.

IOM and partners are working to ensure those affected receive the support they need.

The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration helps countries work together, and the #IMRF2026 is where progress is reviewed and the next steps take shape.
