Farage has done untold damage to the British economy by being instrumental in Brexit; enormous damage to British society by inflaming ethnic divisions; and incalculable damage to the probity of British politics by countenancing obscene levels of funding from disreputable sources.
I’ve been writing about Andy Burnham in Manchester for a while. We’ve had a few run-ins but I think he has qualities that many people don’t appreciate and weaknesses that spell trouble.
I wrote this for @ManchesterMill - I hope it’s insightful and fair.

@Vinc_Ev_@bodman_mike Self-serving Labour MPs: enough of your treacherous chaos and disloyal backstabbing. You owe your seats to Starmer’s landslide victory. Now is not the time for your petty leadership plots. Wind your necks in, get behind him and fix the damage, or get out. Your MP on? PLEASE RT.
Keir Starmer wasn't in Parliament at the time, but he publicly opposed the war in Iraq. He marched against it. He said it was an unlawful war. He recently stood against joining an illegal war in Iran.
#AndyBurnham voted in favour of the Iraq war & voted against having an inquiry.
@Joel_CP_70@bmay He did sort of beat Reform less than 2 years ago. And he is growing in confidence and stature. Plus we might have had peak Farage…alternative is new PM - huge noise from media & MPs for a GE which become hard to ignore, the press starting to attack Burnham - who knows after?
