The striking part is the comparison to population: Alberta has about twelve percent of Canadians but generates fifteen percent of federal revenue, while Quebec has twenty-three percent of the population and only seventeen percent of revenue. That’s why Alberta is the largest net contributor — Ottawa collects about twenty-five billion more from Alberta than it spends there, while Quebec receives about twenty-seven billion more than it pays in.
One caveat worth knowing: these figures come from Statistics Canada’s provincial economic accounts, which allocate federal revenue by where it’s collected.

Obviously, the proof of insurance was not the standard date form provided so he needed to figure it out.

That’s basically how police officers investigate they keep pushing to try to get the information they need. He was asking for drivers license, permit and proof of insurance. The driver was very slow and providing them so he kept asking once he got them and saw that everything appeared to be in order he left.

I guess in theory you’re correct however there’s a lot of laws and this one is very rarely used or needed on a freeway so it’s completely understandable that the officer was not familiar with this particular law.

In almost every case almost 100% you need a valid license plate to drive on a freeway in any state.

Cops kinda have to be like that because people bullshit them all the time.

Plus, this particular law is not something you need maybe ever in your entire career but very very rarely so it’s completely understandable if he misunderstood but when it became apparent that he didn’t understand it, he just left.

Again, no big deal and no one got hurt. It just took a little bit of time to sort it out.

I was never a fan of Knopfler/Dire Straits, but looking back maybe that’s just because I was young and stupid. The video posted shows his genius and he really was good.
