Today would have been Tony Hopper's 50th birthday. 🔴

A Carlisle man who became one of our own , 249 starts, 53 times as captain, five seasons in Workington colours, and a legacy that still means everything to everyone who watched him play.

Nearly eight years on from his passing, the respect for Tony hasn't dimmed at all.

Today, former Carlisle United, Penrith and Workington players come together at Frenchfield, Penrith (2pm) to celebrate him in the way he deserves, boots on, back on the pitch, raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Eden Valley Hospice.

Our thoughts are with Sue, Dan, John, Darren and all of the Hopper family today. It will be an emotional afternoon — but a fitting one.
