My father took me to a Texas Rangers game. It was the last home game of the season and Ryan was pitching against a young guy who had no control. Yep, Randy Johnson. Johnson struck out 18 through 8 innings and didn’t come out in the ninth because his pitch count was insane. Bullpen blew it in the ninth for a Rangers win. One of my best baseball memories with my Dad.

Other fun fact on that concert, it was at Starplex which was an air-conditioned outdoor amphitheater with a large lawn and fixed seats under a roof. It was late summer and about 30 seconds into “Let it Rain” the skies opened with about a 5 minute downpour. Guy next to me in an absolute deadpan said, “I don’t believe it, Clapton is God”

@SandyofCthulhu @aapetrenko To be fair, it’s actually illegal for Americans to wear a 100% accurate US military uniform. So on the better films, there will always be something slightly wrong. When I’ve watched movies with those that served we are always trying to spot the intentional screwup.

Note: I have no actual references on this, but the story I read a number of years ago was that the Liberty was monitoring all the Israeli troop movements and keeping Washington updated, but the Soviets at that point had the US intel community penetrated so well that their foes basically got updated in realtime. So they took out the Liberty, tried for plausible deniability for opsec reasons. I have no way of knowing if it’s true, but if so it would explain almost everything.

Eh, if it speaks and understands English at that rate it’s an improvement over one of the three close McDonald’s to me. Let me confirm it got it right, pass it off to automation that will cook the food and I will be happy.
