@RH_residents@MetTVH@EOCS_Official@ukcag Worse than hopeless. We’re 2.5 years in and work has started at least. We were originally told 2 years but it’ll be close to 5…
The victim harming #BuildingSafetyAct, passed by the @Conservatives govt, is a stain on our country.
A law that harms & punishes the victims of govt & corporate negligence & possible corruption.
Innocent people being made bankrupt by @luhc.
@michaelgove When will you stop this?
@LukeNewman53@EOCS_Official@MetTVH@ukcag Whole building being totally gutted. External walls are just the start, internal walls need to come down, the timber frame needs fire proofing, kitchens and bathrooms out etc. Wates the developer is paying for rehousing but we haven’t had an “offer” yet despite close deadlines
@EOCS_Official@MetTVH@ukcag Thanks will do. Our options are limited as the BSA allows them to act under the guise of “safety”. The works are so extensive it would have been quicker and easier to demolish and start over
@GC_Rail My ideal Easter Monday is watching my train get cancelled while it’s on the platform, then be told to get one 3 hours later with no seating or bag storage for the full 3.5 hour journey 🤡
Today, the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues—attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans.
Lovely letter from @MetTVH today issuing a retrospective S20B notice full of grammar mistakes for £17k for “fire safety costs incurred” so far (not incl remediation), in case the developer won’t pay. Doesn’t seem very legal to me? @ukcag@EOCS_Official
By far and away the biggest revelation from Gove's answers this afternoon is his confirmation that leaseholders will be given statutory protections in the Building Safety Bill to protect them from historic fire safety costs.
SIGNIFICANTLY, this will also cover non-cladding costs
@LeaseStand In our recent service charge review we found out our MA lost the code to the communal electric cupboard so told a tradesman who needed access to force entry. Tried to charge the cost of fixing the door to leaseholders - nearly £200! Contesting it obviously
Yet gov advice notes have meant my flat in a 14m building has been unsellable for 18 months, had a waking watch and fire alarm installed and is facing an unnecessary multimillion pound facelift
"Unnecessary anxiety" is how Boris Johnson described cladding scandal victim Jenny Garrett's concerns, says Labour MP Paul Blomfield, "so will he meet her?"
"I sympathise deeply," says the PM, "but these homes are not unsafe"

Been caught up in this crisis for a whole year, with hardly any progress. Oh, and our cladding isn’t flammable. It’s the insulation and missing cavity barriers keeping us trapped.

"Attacking our elected representatives is an attack on democracy itself... It is as cowardly as it gets"
Brendan Cox, whose wife Jo Cox was murdered at a constituency surgery in 2016, condemns the stabbing of Sir David Amess MP

Judge says whole life sentence should only be used for exceptional cases.
“In my judgement the misuse of a police officer’s role is of equal seriousness as a murder carried out for the purpose of committing a murder for an ideological cause.”
It is, he says, exceptional.
