I think that children should be taught how to use the "right" words to communicate whether in person or using the Web. It's important for children to start learning at a young age how to talk to one another without hurting each other. #Lesson12
I found #lesson12 interesting as it highlights how important social media could be. However, I think it’s more important to talk about the negative influences of social media
Digital code is a slipperry slope. Although, I do believe that it could be applied in classroom settings , it’s hard to monitor outside of the classrooms. #lesson13
Digital technologies can be used easily to spread awareness. Even though internet may be like "black hole", it can be used positively and actually reach an immense audience within minutes. #Lesson13
YouTube is actually amazing. I use it for all my science classes. And sometimes I actually find the youTube videos to be more efficient than the PowerPoint given by the teacher. #lesson12
One thing I always found odd in Disney movies is the lack of a “family structure”. I just never understood how the movies made the family relationships look so unrealistic or sometimes so negative. #lesson11

Another discrimination in Disney was definitely present in Pocahontas, that promoted the idea that Native Americans were all “savages”. Which I find extremely offensive and untrue. And the movie conveniently ends with white culture being admired. #lesson11
Apparently in the original version of the song “Arabian Nights” included: “where they cut off your ear if they dont like your face, it’s barbaric but hey it’s home”. Obviously, this misrepresentation of Middle-Eastern culture wasn’t appreciated and the lyrics had to be changed.
The fact that Disney is an extremely massive corporation, I feel like they kind of told stories that mostly represented western and white cultures, with the exception of Aladdin. Disney wasn’t always “interested” to include all ethnicities in the stories they told. #lesson11
I certainly feel like Disney films have positively changed over time. For example, in 2019 Disney switched up the little mermaid from a white girl to a black girl. #lesson11
