@pindiehead@Mayeezy_ At the extreme end you’re probably right, but the amount of these radical hateful atheists that can’t be reformed which you’re talking about probably couldn’t even make up a full battalion within ISIS. That’s because atheism is less prone to radicalism than religion.
@pindiehead@Mayeezy_ And that’s by basic nature of how we come to our positions. I don’t believe I’m correct because the divine ruler of the universe who is always correct is on my side. I do what I can with the information and experiences I have and change over time as I get more of both.
@pindiehead@Mayeezy_ I don’t think religious people should be free of criticism, I never said they should be. I said that people deserve respect and dignity and yes, while sometimes it will boil over, atheists can be trusted much more than religious people to tone it back down
@pindiehead@Mayeezy_ I know what you’re trying to talk yourself into believing, but you can’t honestly convince yourself that atheists on the whole are even close to as exclusionary and hateful as religioids
@pindiehead@Mayeezy_ But yeah you wanna bring up a psycho murderer? Sure, I present you Christians and their religions justifications for chattel slavery, Islamic terrorist attacks in their thousands, and the entire state of Israel and their ongoing genocide. Now what
@pindiehead@Mayeezy_ By evolve, I’m talking about if an atheists goes a little too far over the top with their resentment and it bleeds into hating people. They are much easier to walk back than a religioid.
@pindiehead@Mayeezy_ With all due respect, the Reddit atheists of the world could never even come close to achieving even 5% of the hateful rhetoric and death and destruction that Islam, Judaism, and Christianity have wrought on the world
@pindiehead@Mayeezy_ A Reddit atheist at least arrives at their line of thinking in a way that’s falsifiable and can evolve with time, evidence, and maturity. If they become bigoted, they can be reformed. How do you reform a bigot who thinks the almighty god of the universe told them it’s correct?
@pindiehead@Mayeezy_ I have no ill will towards people who are Muslim or Jewish or christian or whatever because they’re people before any religion comes into play, and people deserve respect and dignity. Religions themselves though? Why do they need to be coddled and tiptoed around?
@pindiehead@Mayeezy_ I was having this same conversation with a jew yesterday lmao, and my answer to that is the same: yeah, kinda
obviously we should be respectful to *people*, but we need to start being more bold in calling out and criticizing religious doctrines yes.
