@SeanBormanNFL That has and probably always will be his game, short quick completions with the ovcasional shot. Not a scheme fit with what KOC has done in the past or what it seems like he wants to do. Will be interesting to see how they grow together
@Krauserrific@brevmanbane I felt like we watched Kyler grow in the second half. He got to the checkdowns quicker and KOC switched to more quick game concepts which is Kylers bread and butter. Can they continue to adjust to each other will decide how the season goes
@reign_vikings Other coaches have simpler offenses that are easier to operate (lower difficulty, less big chunk plays) but more QBs can be efficient and successful in it.
It can work but it’s dependent on QBs making big throws and trusting long developing routes that are tougher to throw
@reign_vikings I’m about to compare KOCs passing scheme to figure skating but I think it’s a perfect analogy
It has an extremely high difficulty rating but if you execute it well, it’s going to be really good
But not everyone can execute it well and that’s when we struggle
@SK_NFL Was never an amazing fit, KOC will have to adapt to his strengths, get him out of the pocket, incorporate easy quick throws, and we need to learn scramble rules better as a team, and hopefully Kyler can get more comfortable with some anticipation throws, would unlock the offense
@verysadvikings KOC got too much heat, 75% on Kyler 25% on KOC. Some concepts were not executed / designed well, but a lot of times throws were there or he was slow to get to check downs for an easy gain. More optimistic after watching this, think Kyler will grow into the offense
@mattyshatt@WillRagatz Agreed KOC has to be better at playing to Murray’s strengths but losing Jefferson is a factor, just can’t completely shut down the offense.
Would have liked it to be better right away but think it will improve, only pause is KOC isn’t always the best at adapting
@mattyshatt@WillRagatz It was a mix from what I’ve seen, there were some plays no one was open but I don’t agree with the people who say it was all KOCs fault, there were throws to be made but they weren’t super easy and KOC needs to be better about getting his QB easy completions, especially early on
@NicholasMMiller Kylers ceiling is higher but he was the much better system fit for a coach who isn’t the quickest to adapt. He would’ve been interesting with KOC
@vikesfan27777 I thought we’d go with Geno as well. Good litmus test for McCarthy and if/when Geno won the job, he fits KOCs preferred system well which is a blessing for a coach who hasn’t shown a great ability to adapt (yet at least fingers crossed that changes)
@riley_Beatr@cdott_x Most likely, it’ll be interesting to see film cut ups, but that is KOCs bread and butter and Kyler had time for the most part yesterday. Kyler can operate a quick game offense and e have to get that going but I think 3 quick game throws he had yesterday were also batted down
@Carp2291@verysadvikings It will be interesting. Kyler has shown he can be a solid QB, but I didnt love the fit coming into the season. KOC chose him and has to adapt to his strengths which are polar opposite to the type of QB I think he prefers, but holding out hope he can make it work
@Krauserrific This is 100% correct, no matter who we play at QB we will have a chance to win the game if the defense keeps playing the way they are. Leads to a lot of interesting discussions about who the QB should be but it’s Kyler’s job at least through week 5
@whoknowsvikes He can run a good offense with a certain QB type, Kyler does not fit that mold. He is slow to adapt and that needs to speed up if we want to go anywhere this year, but this was a concern coming into the season
