Most rehab professionals don’t understand how to treat strength athletes.
Even fewer actually participate in strength sports.
Rehab for daily life is not the same as rehab for strength sports performance.
After 10min, you’re either sweating, starting to feel the mental benefits of exercise, or both!
At this point, chances are you’re going to get a full workout in!
Boom - the power of the “5 minute rule” 👊🏻
The first 5min will be tough, you just have to get to the gym and start moving.
After 5, it just makes sense to go to 10. You’re already at the gym and 5min isn’t enough to accomplish anything.
Then the real magic happens ➡️
How many hours per week do you spend on your phone?
Compare that time to this fact:
3 hours of exercise per week (1.8% of the total hours in a week) is enough to reduce risk of heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers & premature death.
Put the phone down & move.
Avoiding weight training for fear of hurting your low back sets up a self-fulfilling prophecy:
You fear back pain so you don’t train.
Then you experience back pain because… you’re human.
This affirms your decision not to weight train.
Don’t fall into this cycle!
Physical Therapy paradigm shift:
We learn in school that we should work to improve or optimize movement quality before loading tissues for strength.
But, what if lack of strength is in fact the reason for poor movement quality?
14% of Americans have a gym membership.
Only about 7% actually go to the gym regularly.
If you go the gym, and you actually work with a coach or follow a training plan, I’d bet you’re in the top 3% of the most health conscious people in 🇺🇸
The 6 Mandatory Movement Patterns
1. Squat
2. Hinge
3. Lunge
4. Push
5. Pull
6. Carry
If you’re not training all 6 of these patterns, you’re simply leaving your results (and health) to chance…
Do the uncomfortable thing.
Do it when you still have the choice.
Do it when comfort is still an option.
Do it now.
Because there will come a time when you have no choice, when comfort is no longer an option.
