The case for routine infant circumcision being "healthier" doesn't survive close scrutiny.
We walked through the actual evidence—HIV trials, cancer/UTI numbers, and what the @AmerAcadPeds own authors now say.

me, begging, crying, on my knees: "Please just use plain english, I don't understand what you're saying."
Claude: "The right fix, and the book's lesson applies: the tutorial rotted as a front door because a front door full of claims always rots. So the new root holds only what's timeless — the thesis and three doors — and every claim lives behind it in the thing that goes red when stale."
"scientists don't want you know" is a phrase that always cracks me up because if you actually meet a scientist they will be shaking and crying like an overstimulated chihuahua with the need to let you know
Local minima are extremely rare in high dimensional spaces, so if you ever feel stuck in a rut it’s probably just because you aren’t considering a wide enough set of orthogonal options
With circumcision in the news recently, it's a good time to point out that no western medical organization (even in the U.S.) recommends childhood circumcision for health reasons.
In fact, two authors of the latest American Academy of Pediatrics' circumcision policy statement recently went on record saying pediatricians should not recommend circumcision.
In line with this stance, my non-profit @IntactGlobalinc is filing lawsuits across the U.S. to get cosmetic childhood genital cutting out of our healthcare system.
The Green party is considering a new policy to ban circumcision, The Spectator can reveal. The party's Health Policy Working Group (HPWG) has launched a consultation seeking views on whether parents should only be allowed to consent 'to an irreversible surgical procedure on a child if that procedure is medically necessary'.
The HPWG is also requesting opinions on whether 'non-therapeutic male circumcision should only be performed on children who are old enough to make an informed choice'.
The policy proposal, launched ahead of the Greens' Autumn Conference, is likely to provoke significant division within Zack Polanski's party. Circumcision is an integral part of Judaism, with Jewish boys traditionally undergoing a 'brit milah' on the eighth day after birth. Russell Langer, Director of Public Affairs at the Jewish Leadership Council, said: 'Circumcision is a vital part of Jewish life and an essential link to our religion and heritage.
This is also a practice shared with many of the Muslim faith. Any suggestion of a ban on circumcision will have a significant impact on our communities and the future of the UK as a tolerant society which respects freedom of religion and belief.'

If circumcision were a decision left to men themselves—something that could only happen once they reached an age of consent—the practice would fade away on its own.
Because when you strip away tradition, routine, and decisions made on behalf of infants, you’re left with a simple question: would an informed adult voluntarily choose to surgically remove part of their own body?
Most wouldn’t. Especially part of your genitals!
The persistence of the practice depends largely on the fact that the choice is made before the individual has any say in the matter. Once consent enters the equation, the calculus changes entirely.
Our work is featured in @NYMag this week. The demand for foreskin restoration is very real. That's why we're developing a regenerative medicine solution to biologically restore the foreskin's form, function, and sensation.
For anyone seeing this and realizing what circumcision has taken from them: your feelings are valid, and we're working on a solution. Foregen is developing a regenerative medicine procedure to restore the foreskin in form, function, and sensation.
@alexbk49 We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, not a business. And nothing would make us happier than a world where no one has to live with the harmful consequences of non-therapeutic genital surgery. Until then, we're working on a solution for those who do.
To complement the earlier post about the clitoral nerve mapping study, I just noticed this has come out: Surprising male G-spot found in most detailed study of the penis yet https://t.co/37K63vajJG
