My childhood church in Australia launched me on a trajectory to Asia. After a decade of preparation, I landed in Southeast Asia and married a Cambodian.
The unseen world is part of life for Cambodians. In Australia, ghosts are found in movies/books. As an Aussie married to a Cambodian, I find myself staring across a chasm. I’ve lived in Asia over 10yrs but haven’t taken enough notice of the difference.

What about you, O fellow expat or repat? How are you feeling about this Christmas? Maybe you are dreading being in a place where you’re away from family and there are no signs of Christmas? It might not even feel like Christmas at all.

Friends keep leaving; I can’t bear to get to know new people. Every new friend is an embryo of a goodbye. The expat community has such high turnover. I’m in a community with people from many countries. Some stay for a few months, some for a few decades.
