When our teaching falls flat and doesn’t feel ‘sticky’ it might be because we’re telling kids WHAT to do, not HOW to do it nor WHY to do it. When we say, “Readers notice the way the author organizes the text,” we don’t want our kids to say, “That’s great and all but how?” #tcrwp

Two highly recommended books by Memphis public school librarian, Alice Faye. These are beautiful books, and though they are children's books, I will use them in my HS classroom (The Gwendolyn Brooks book will be released in January).
