On July 13, 2023, the Bhopal police made a distressing discovery—the bodies of a couple in their forties and their two young children. It was believed that they had taken their own lives due to falling victim to financial fraud. The family's final selfie circulated widely on social media, casting a tragic spotlight on the incident. Approximately a month later, law enforcement took swift action, apprehending five individuals linked to the deceitful scheme.

The deceased were identified as Bhupendra Vishwakarma (38), his wife Ritu (35), and their children, Rituraj (3) and Rishiraj (9). Bhupendra had engaged in a part-time job that offered enticing incentives; however, he became ensnared in online theft and fraud.

During the course of the investigation, the police discovered that Rs 95,700 had been transferred from the Bank of Baroda account of the deceased insurance agent, Bhupendra Vishwakarma, to an account at Yes Bank in Bhopal. This led to the apprehension of the suspects. Notably, five individuals, including the account holder and a Yes Bank employee, were reported to have received a commission of Rs 1.80 lakh from the victim. The police are currently searching for the individuals who provided this commission.
