@alexhern …they don’t provide nappies, or pads to postpartum women? Obv nobody will die if they don’t have access to those things, but it feels so nickel and dimey. If my arm was bleeding you’d give me a bandage, but since I’m bleeding postpartum I have to supply my own? Ugh.
@alexhern That is awful. I also gave birth in London during lockdown (April 2020) and needed formula which my husband had to go get. I agree not having it in the in-hospital Boots is inexcusable, but I assumed the hospital didn’t provide it as it’s a money-saving NHS thing, like why…
@jfeckstein @gfrancie Partly explains why Boris wanted to wait until September to stand down (again, not a joke, or only a joke insofar as the whole political system here is a joke)
@lottyburns No. Our 2yo daughter is beyond delighted to have a tub of water in the garden with some cups or bath toys. If we let her play with the hose she’s ecstatic. Kids enjoy simple pleasures!
@davidrkadler Export to where? No more freedom of movement, and pretty much all other English-speaking countries (bc let’s be honest, most Brits don’t speak a foreign language) have stringent skill requirements for visas that your average British worker won’t meet…
@lottyburns I try to check every couple of months to make sure I know roughly how much is in there and make sure there haven’t been any issues with my/my employer’s contributions. I mostly ignore performance since, as you say, today’s market is largely immaterial to the ultimate outcome.
@jfeckstein Interesting - if it’s YTD it’s missing summer data. Schools haven’t even let out yet here in the UK so the summer travel hasn’t started in earnest yet for much of Europe!
@jfeckstein Also the strong USD right now is probably putting people off, combined with other shortages leading to things like outrageously high car rental prices (we are going to Florida in October so speak from experience!)
@jfeckstein When is the period being covered? For much of Covid only citizens and their spouses/children could come to the US, and after that you still needed PCR tests far longer than other countries required them, so I’d believe it for the past couple of years.
@laurahelmuth American based in the UK here - last week I started my maternity leave and was delighted to put up my out of office saying I’ll be back July 2023 👋
@lottyburns Hiring a tradesperson isn’t just up to him. Let him know that he has until X date to do something if he insists on doing it himself, and if after that date it’s not done, you’re going to hire someone. You deserve to enjoy your home, not live in a half-finished project!
