I am against them. Especially in rural areas. The water depletion and heat bubbles they create will ruin the surrounding areas forever. There is no AI anything that I would have to have over water and land security. These monstrous heat sinks are a scourge on the earth. I am beginning to subscribe to the theory that all of this “technology” has gone as far as the Earth can sustain. With the exception of medical breakthroughs, I think I’m good never seeing another deforested data center hardscape. I’m done. No more.
@SirBylHolte I will answer to Stewardess every time. 💕 Those were the magical years of aviation and a few people still used the term to address me onboard.
Well our policies have made it very difficult for young professionals and students. Prices are out of control and everything takes doing three plus times to have it done correctly. I feel for these young adults. Yes they can work hard and find employment and ways to save but let’s not kid ourselves it’s NOTHING like it was when we graduated college. This country has stopped celebrating productivity and now rewards the useless. It disgusts me.
You know what actually keeps neighborhoods cooler in the summer? TREES. Literally trees. Stop cutting them down for data centers and then acting shocked when our cities turn into ovens. Give us our damn trees back. We don’t need another data center.
@MQSullivan I’m disgusted every time we drive through there… what a misnomer. Sweetwater should be a beautiful little town instead it’s a giant wasteland for decrepit broken down wind turbines.
Nightmare scenario. It caught my attention that your Aunt doesn’t have children. In my family’s experience, those without children aren’t as attached to legacy properties or heirlooms. It’s a “stops with them” type attitude and they would rather have the money to spend on themselves in their final years or leave to organizations that they are more attached to than their family. That’s a tough one. Best of luck.
