Lando Norris beautifully explains how he’s more relaxed & confident after winning the championship:

“I can die happy now. My life led to that one moment. I'm just very, very happy that I managed to do it. I'm proud of myself that I managed to achieve it with all those people around me.”

“When I'm relaxed, I generally can feel more confident. Winning the championship last year has just allowed me to have more confidence in an underlying way because I feel like I can just lean on that.”

“I just have something to go, ‘you came from a lot worse last year or you went through a lot worse last year at times and came out of it in the best way possible so I kind of (gave) myself a block to lean on and that's exactly what I need at times.”

“Whereas last year, I kind of never had that and I had to work with specialists and people to kind of give me a support from people around me and try and just give myself my own support at times. Because at the beginning of the year, I certainly didn't have any of that and I kind of never had much of that as a driver.”

“But now I just have my own block built by this. I've got my own trophy to lean on and that's a very good thing to have from a confidence point of view.”

lando on the support and mentorship he’s had from seb: “he’s probably been a guy that naturally came about and he’s been very helpful. he’s been through everything over the years. so, a super nice guy and he’s been always very helpful in the bad times, but also the good times. in terms of how to keep focused and keep your head down, how to get through those tough times but also how to use the good times to continue to help yourself improve.

to come from a guy like him, he was the guy i was watching when i was a kid, so it’s certainly a cool thing. he still does a lot outside of formula 1 now, but still uses the fact he’s a 4x world champion and an incredible driver. i think just a lot of people have a huge amount of respect for him, for what he achieved but also what he does now outside of formula 1 . he’s just an incredible person, he’s a very down to earth nice person. that’s maybe not what everyone would expect from a world champion or someone who’s achieved that kind of thing, but he is. and he’s always down to have a chat, have a laugh, have a coffee, whatever it may be”
