A Chipotle burrito costs $15. Ground beef is $7 a pound. Inflation is financially crippling Gen Z.
Once again, an out-of-touch rich boomer is lecturing young people.
Shows of today can't even setup these kinds of callbacks and payoffs because THEY GET CANCELLED AFTER 3 BUSINESS DAYS‼️ Bones is THE BLUEPRINT for romantic slowburns that payoff until the end.
When women and girls talk about sexual assault, men’s first response is usually, “happens to men too.”
But when men talk about high rates of male suicide which is a real, serious problem in our society, you almost never hear a woman say, “happens to girls too.”
Because we understand basic empathy, and that the conversation doesn’t take away from women’s lived experiences.
I’ve seen men walk away from 5–10 year relationships, then turn around and marry a woman they’ve known for 6 months suddenly doing all the things their ex begged for years. Word of advice, stop preaching to these men. They hear you. He’s just never going to become the man you want him to be because you’re not the woman he wants to be with. People don’t change for love in general, they change for who they truly want.
Katherine Hartley Short was 42 years old.
She died on February 23, 2026, at her Hollywood Hills home in Los Angeles.
A friend requested a welfare check after not hearing from her for more than 24 hours.
LAPD and the fire department responded at approximately 6:43 PM.
Investigators found a note on the door of her residence.
She was found deceased.
On February 24, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office officially confirmed the cause of death as suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
She was the eldest of three children adopted by actor Martin Short and his late wife, actress Nancy Dolman.
Her younger brothers are Oliver and Henry.
She was born Katherine Hartley Short. Unlike her father, she chose not to pursue a career in entertainment.
Instead, she dedicated her life to helping others through social work and mental health advocacy.
She attended New York University and graduated in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and gender sexuality studies.
She earned her master's degree in social work from USC in 2010.
After graduation, she became a licensed clinical social worker in Los Angeles.
Before entering private practice, she worked for four years at UCLA's Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital.
She also worked at the Camden Center, a dual-diagnosis outpatient program treating psychiatric, addictive, and eating disorders.
She worked part-time at Amae Health, which provides support groups and psychotherapy.
In her private practice, she specialized in adoption, anxiety, depression, and grief, drawing on her own life experiences as an adoptee.
She was a passionate advocate for mental health awareness and worked with the charity Bring Change 2 Mind, an organization dedicated to eliminating the stigma surrounding mental illness.
She believed deeply in breaking down barriers that prevented people from seeking help.
Though she remained largely out of the public eye, she occasionally accompanied her father to industry events.
She appeared with him and her mother at The Producers afterparty in 2003 and attended the Vanity Fair Oscar Party with him in February 2011.
Her mother, Nancy Dolman, died in 2010 from ovarian cancer after a 30-year marriage to Martin Short.
At the time, Martin told The Guardian:
"It's been a tough two years for my children.
This is the thing of life that we live in denial about, that it will ever happen to us or our loved ones, and when it does you gain a little and you suffer a little."
He added:
"It was absolutely horrible, obviously, and as sad as anything.
I will tell you what I said to my kids at the time:
'I believe Mom has zoomed into our souls.'"
Her father had also recently lost his longtime friend, actress Catherine O'Hara, who passed away on January 30, 2026, following a private battle with rectal cancer and a sudden pulmonary embolism.
Martin Short's representative released this statement:
"It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short.
The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time.
Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world."
Martin Short is 75 years old.
He is currently starring in Only Murders in the Building on Hulu.
He had comedy shows scheduled with Steve Martin this weekend — February 27 in Milwaukee at the Miller High Life Theatre and February 28 in Minneapolis.
Both shows have been officially postponed.
Venues have stated they will honor tickets for future rescheduled dates.
Katherine is survived by her father, Martin Short, and her brothers, Oliver and Henry.
