EARTH-DIRECTED X-FLARE AND CME: Sunspot AR4479 erupted today, June 30th, 20:50 UT producing an X1.1-class solar flare. NASA suggests the CME will hit Earth on July 2nd-3rd. Stay tuned for updates…
@yirmiucderece I just love how everyone runs thinking they are helping by moving her all around, trying to make her to set up, ,not knowing what injuries she has! Broken bones, internal bleeding concussion. Maybe better to stop traffic and call emergency personnel after lifting the bike off.
A COMPLICATED SOLAR FLARE: Today's M5.9-class solar flare was more than just a solar flare. It was (three) solar flares. Three sunspots erupting in quick succession. This kind of chain reaction is hardly unprecedented. These type of solar events have been seen many times before. Hidden magnetic connections between seemingly unrelated sunspots can trigger a series of rapid-fire flares. In this case, play the movie, the sequence was 4477-4475-4479, with sunspot 4475 prodcing most of the energy. No CME observed. Stay tuned for updates…
PROMINENCE ERUPTION GALORE: 06/28/26. Big sunspot group AR4478 remains quite, although we maybe waiting for a big solar flare, we could be impacted by a different eruption. Filaments and prominences can if in the right orientation when they erupt, produce significant geo-effective activity. Today at least four filament eruption have occurred producing CMEs, none Earth directed. There is one filament positioned in a geoeffective posture. (Play the movie) Stay tuned for updates…
SURPRISINGLY QUIET ACTIVE REGION: A big sunspot group numbered AR4478 is now rotating across the visible solar disk. AR4478 has a Beta -Gamma-Delta magnetic field that harbors energy for X-class solar flares, although remains quit. The dynamic forces on the region may break the quit! Opposite polarities bump together, reconnect, and boom. A full-fledged Earth directed X-flare may not be far off. Stay tuned for updates…
The sun is popping with C-class solar flares. That could change in the days ahead as a Big sunspot group is turning the eastern limb. Stay tuned for updates...
BIG FARSIDE SUNSPOT: A large sunspot on the farside of the sun is now emerging over the eastern limb. Europe's Solar Orbiter has been monitoring the big sunspot group for several days. Now it’s our turn! Stay tuned for updates…
