Do you want to know what number 1 marketing rule you must follow?
It’s called the rule of 7.
When people see a brand 7 times, they are much more likely to evangelize it, engage with it, and most importantly… buy.
It used to be where you could push out anything, run ads, and you would see your products flying off the shelf.
But now people have options, and the chances are that whatever you are selling, someone else is selling the same thing, probably for a cheaper price.
Running ads isn’t enough to separate you from the competition.
But if you take an omnichannel approach… get on social media, and leverage platforms like blogging and podcasting, there is a good chance more people will see you.
Not all marketing channels will have a direct ROI, but they can help with the rule of 7.
We looked at 3000 landing pages with conversion tracking set up to see the difference between high-converting landing pages and low-converting pages.
We placed the landing pages in 2 different buckets…
Pages that had a conversion rate of 2% or less.
And pages that had a conversion rate of more than 2%.
Keep in mind that these landing pages sold something. A conversion point wasn’t an email opt-in; it was someone making a purchase.
Here are the most common elements that the pages converting at more than 2% had that the ones converting in the lower group didn’t use as often.
1. Engaging hero shot
2. Use of video to describe what is being sold
3. Detailed list of benefits that typically could be expanded by someone clicking “see more”.
4. Testimonials with images of the person and the product.
5. Call to action that was more related to the product versus using a generic one.
6. High-quality images with text layered on the top that explained the benefit of the product.
7. Subscribe and save options.
8. Showcasing all the payment options by displaying logos (ex: PayPal)
9. Text that explains what makes the company and product unique from the competition.
10. A long, super detailed landing page versus one that just sells.
Try some of those elements and see what happens to your conversion rate.
