There’s been a lot of talk in this race about what makes a "real man."
A man does what’s right when no one is watching. He upholds his commitments to his family and neighbors. He doesn’t lie, cheat, & steal his way through life.
Real men serve others. Weak men serve themselves.
Governor, you keep tweeting at me.
I already offered to debate vouchers in person, on your terms.
You’re trying to make this partisan but you know Republicans & Democrats both oppose your voucher scam.
If you truly think this is right for Texas, put down your phone and debate.
There are some self-proclaimed Christians pushing voucher scams.
Vouchers take money from public schools and give it to wealthy parents who already send their kids to private school.
I can’t think of anything more un-Christian than stealing from the poor to give to the rich.
Greg Abbott and his billionaire mega-donors know private school vouchers are unpopular in Texas.
So they’ve paid for a poll-tested rebrand to sell their scam.
Here’s how to debunk their “school choice” slogan in 90 seconds…
SB2 allots $1B new spending at $10k/voucher
$80M is skimmed off the top by Comptroller’s office & CEAOs
That leaves $920M which will pay for 92,000 vouchers
Over 75% will already be in private schools, 25% from public
So 25% of 92,000 is 23,000 kids coming from public schools all across TX. (0.004% of TX students) Only a few kids from many schools here & there, not 23,000 from one district
Fixed costs remain the same, i.e. if a teacher loses 1 kid/class, you can’t fire that teacher because she still has 25 kids in her classes
So there is no money saving, there is no reduction in staff
You just spent $1 BILLION to help 0.004% of kids. That’s dumb
School districts across Texas face budget cuts while the state under @GregAbbott_TX sits on a record budget surplus. The Texas Constitution *requires the state* to pay for public education. Don't forget Abbott held school funding hostage for vouchers and he's still doing it.
@zachmelloh26 Since the umbrella policy covers anything over your liability, can you also lower your comprehensive and collision on your auto policy to save money there (assuming you do have an umbrella policy)?
