People blame Maraths excesses for Rajput aloofness. Let's assume its correct. If so, can someone explain their attitude after Panipat? Forget the retreating Marathas. Look at the villages around Kurukshetra completely emptied of Hindus. Hindu men and women captured and taken away as slaves. What did the desert Rajput kingdoms do to protect the Hindus?
Let me go a step backwards. Brindavan was slaughtered and Mathura pillaged just years before. How exactly did the desert Rajput kingdoms avenge that? I am not even talking about Maratha outreach to stand by Hinduism. How did they react to such things happening on the ground?
Let me take a step back into past. We know how Zebu Langda ravaged Rajputana, starting with the murder of Prithviraj Singh of Marwar. How exactly did they retaliate after the death of the Langda Sultan? Which Hindu religious sites did they reclaim? Let's say they hated Marathas. If so, shouldn't they compete with Marathas in reclaiming pilgrimage centres? Rather what we see? Sensing Marathas were on the backfoot after Panipat, they attack the Marathas instead of doing something to protect the suffering Hindus of North India.
You see, history is a very bad partner. The more you get to know about it, the more hard it becomes. Even a neutral observer will notice all these things. You can shoot the messenger but the message still stays. Notice, I studiously used the word Desert Rajput Kingdoms and not Rajput kingdoms. Because that's the real distinction.
TLDR: In the timeframe 1757-1762 when Hinduism was pushed to the back foot, what did the Desert Rajput kingdoms do to reduce Hindu suffering?
