It’s the first week back at school. I spotted five boys from Year 5 sitting around a table in the playground at break. “This looks interesting, boys.”
“We’re studying Shakespeare, Miss. would you like to join us?” 😍#reasonstoloveteaching
When children return to school, maybe don't ask them what they did in the holidays as some may have done very little, ask them what they didn't do...
This Summer holiday, I did not

Always remember: READING FOR PLEASURE has the biggest positive impact of any factor on children's life chances. So whatever else you do, please keep reading books with kids, and helping them to read. There is nothing more important! #literacy
Quick tip for folk working alongside Year 6 colleagues:
They love being told that 'pressure is a privilege' during the Summer term. It'll really motivate them. 👍
“Just by being there, used in a certain way and protected by simple, reasonable rules, a reading area announces to pupils, without the teacher having to say anything about it, that in this classroom, this school, this community, reading is understood to be an essential occupation.” -Aidan Chambers
