Hello #sleeptwitter! 👋
I'm a UK Primary Care Doctor, with a focus on #sleep disorders in #primarycare.
Sleep-related presentations span a number of #GP consultations, but sleep disorders are rarely recognised in their own right.
Looking forward to joining the conversation!
I’m just a UK Sleep GP here at #PAS2024 supporting my wife @PhilippaCRees in her Neonatal research BUT also secretly wishing I was on the other side of this door to listen to @LaurenHalePhD and others discussing: “Should Paediatricians Advocate Banning All Screens From Bedrooms?”
This paper was a labour of love for our team, and we are very excited to receive an Editors Choice from SLEEP!
We found a high persistence rate of insomnia symptoms (54%) over the first 12 months of the pandemic. We also found that sleep reactivity and sleep effort were major perpetuating factors of insomnia that need to be addressed.
A huge thanks to our team, Flora Le, Sean Drummond, Sukhjit Bains, @PVarma_sleep@MoiraJunge and @DrSleepPsych, for making this study possible!
@SleepAndSports 💯 changing structural/societal barriers to good sleep health has surely got to be one of the highest bang for buck things to be done.
But I have no doubt it’s filled with lots of tumbleweed and lots of heartbreak…
@michaelgrandner@MGHMedicine These students are way cooler than I was! Cultural shifts really are so powerful as public health influencers. (but can’t help think that “two million total Sleep Number smart-bed customers” might give a slight skewed sample 😅)
There is no Paleo Sleep Solution.
No Mediterranean Sleep Method.
Definitely No Carnivore Sleep Correction.
Understand this, and realise that Sleep is your best confusion-free way to begin improving your health.

Hey my Aussie #sleeppeeps - I’m in Sydney for the next several weeks. Would love to connect if any of you are around and free to grab a coffee (or whatever else you cool people do here…)
Did you know..? There’s a curious spike in acute insomnia every year around this time in the demographic of “kids from 1 to 92”.
🤗
Happy Christmas friends :)
