This is over a decade old from Syria, after a bombing by Assad's airforce. Today I saw someone share it believing it to be from Gaza. This is understandable since we've seen similar scenes repeated in Gaza. Some who condemned this in Syria now justify it in Gaza—& vice versa.

Palestinians who oppose Hamas's terrorism are too often unwelcome in the pro-Palestine movement. That is the unfortunate reality.

It doesn't matter how outspoken you are about Israeli crimes against Palestinians, or even that you are Palestinian yourself. You can still be excluded, doxxed, and harassed simply for speaking out against Hamas.

The leaders of the pro-Palestine movement in the West have completely adopted Hamas's narrative. Question it, and you're out. Today, as some celebrate October 7, they'll call you a traitor for saying what should be obvious: murdering and kidnapping civilians is terrorism and a crime against humanity. It won't matter what else you've said or how long you've fought for Palestinian rights.

How Iran has dented the Palestinian cause:
1. It funded and armed Hamas and PIJ over the PLO/Fatah. Khamenei called Arafat a “traitor and a fool” for Oslo. Result: the 2007 split, two rival authorities, no single negotiating partner.
2. It treated any deal short of Israel’s elimination as betrayal and backed violence timed to collapse talks in the 1990s and after. Peace processes died while rejectionist factions got cash and weapons.
3. Palestinians were instrumental. When Hamas opposed Assad, Iran cut funding until they realigned. 4.Quds Force support served Iranian deterrence and regional leverage, not Palestinian statehood.
5.Roughly $70–100m a year plus rockets, training, and tunnel know-how helped enable Oct 7. The war that followed killed tens of thousands of Palestinians, wrecked Gaza, and buried near-term two-state diplomacy. Israeli hardliners cite Iranian-backed Hamas as proof a state would be a threat.
6. Tying the cause to Hezbollah, the Houthis, and designated terror groups made it easier for Sunni Arab states to deprioritize it. Shared fear of Iran helped drive the Abraham Accords.
7. Decades of “resistance” liberated no land. Gaza under Hamas stayed blockaded and repeatedly destroyed. When Iran itself was hit, it de-escalated fast while having pushed Gaza to keep fighting.
8. Most Palestinians see the interference. Fatah officials have called Iran the top sponsor of division and said it gave nothing to the Palestinian people as distinct from its armed clients. Polls show large shares view Tehran’s role negatively.
